I finally saw this on 3PS today; I have to agree, it is the best video game character ever.

Can't be sure, but...
There's an image of a jelly cube with a crown in the opening to Wakfu. Since the creature doesn't appear in the series, I have to assume it's from the games, which pre-date Spiral Knights by a while.

Someone in my guild
Someone in my guild (Edelweiss) leveled up the jelly helm just so he could wear the crown as a costume. It's quite funny.

If you want a slime with a crown you could always look to Dragon Warrior Monsters' King Slime, Metal King Slime, etc.
Slime is a classic RPG monster.
I love the fresh take on the classic RPG "Slime" enemy. Instead of a glob of slime, it's a cube of Jell-O.
Tiny touch, but brilliant.
