So Sandwich-Potato and I got into this heated discussion about the better mission, and I decided to make this thread without telling him. Which one do you think is better?

Arkus actually has a story; we actually get to know him. Is it easier to care about someone who's life you know, or some random boop you put a chunk of metal over said boop's body?

Didn't you just say "If you were in a war, and no one knew you were died..." and then didnt't finish it because I said something else?

Yes, I was referring to Blades of the Fallen being callous.

You are in this war and you have passed away in a horrible accident with a bunch of bombs. They only recover your weapons. What do they do? Do they place you in a proper cemetery? No they lump your gear and stuck it in the ground blade-first, don't even bother to keep away vandals like the Greavers, and just throw more gear over it.

Case closed, we're done here.

And Sandwich, read the mission decription, like I told you to. Specifically the last sentence. The blade isn't even stuck in the ground, it's put on a little stand on the tip of what I think is a cliff.

Oh great, now you're a lawyer.

Right, the people honor the knights SO much they don't even bother to put in a ceremonial guard, like DC's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier does. We feel so honored and respected for what we did.

Also, how can they put a ceremonial guard, if the dark just keep on coming. Have you seen how big the clockworks are? About a sixth of that is what gets attracted to a graveyard. Just look at one of the scenario rooms in the graveyard, with the never-ending spawners. The knight literally says, "No! There are too many! I will go no further!"

And then there's the infinite training bots in the Training Hall, which are warded off by Forcefields. Why not ward off infinite other monsters?

The infinite bots that don't spawn unless there are less than 5 bots in the room? Real infinite.

And the Lost Souls and Zombies I believe also have a spawn limit. Real infinite.

Keep in mind that the clockworks is about a sixth fiends and a sixth undead, good luck keeping all of them out. Also there are no zombies in Blades of The Fallen, what are you smoking.

I brought up zombies because you referenced the scenario room with them.

And it's Tier 2. Monsters be lame.

I am sorry Sandwich-Potato, but I must agree with Poomph on that Blades of the Fallen is ever so slightly better than The Silent Legion. My reasoning is that during the Blades of the Fallen, you are honoring a unnamed knight who have fallen in the line of duty, by placing the knight's sword upon his/her tombstone. Suddenly, you are attacked out of the blue and must defend yourself against these beastly monsters that seem near impossible to the beginning player. You fight off the beasts and leave the graveyard, more troubled than when you came.

The a silent legion on the other hand is a mission where you are sent to retrieve a troubled Guardian, when in reality you kill him as he fights in anguish and rage. You kill a broken spirit.

Like I've said, in Blades of the Fallen you are apparently presented with a mysterious knight's sword only. Presumably he had too much swag for another weapon. In addition, I still find it surprising that the lot of you seem to condone letting a bunch of pooping Greavers and heavy as heck Trojans completely vandalise the area. Not even a forcefield around the perimeter is erected for these dozens of lost ones forever gone, instead they just send some knights in every while to stick another victim's sword in a stone. It's a good concept, but I don't like the idea of disrupting the dead, which is why I dislike Graveyards despite their enormous bounty of heat. They have a mass grave, I understand, but to not even bother protecting it? Or move it to, say, somewhere outside of Haven where the sun wards off darkness instead of in the Clockworks, where ice cold rain and gloomy thunder punctuate the complete danger and recklessness of the scene?

Now the Silent Legion on the other hand deals with a Guardian dancing along the very cusps of insanity, closer and closer to the brink, until your arrival finally pushes him over the limit, and he tries to keep you away in his own deranged, pitiful, and depressing way. [He was even nice enough to leave those treasure boxes for you instead of stealing any Sparks or Vitapods there too.] It's implied that he struggled with the loss of not one, not two, but three friends, close as a family was, and torn away in a few minutes. And he couldn't even save one of them, for all his training in defense and protecting others. He failed, not once but thrice, and not to an anonymous stranger but his own squad. They apparently went in too deep; his mind tears at him, screaming at every mistake he made. Why not protest more at going to such dangerous depths? Why not distract the zombies and let your team escape, not the other way around? Why bother serving the Order, when you cannot even save those that you loved and cherished and held close? Is there any meaning to a Guardian if he cannot fulfill his very purpose? The Silent Legion casts a dark memento on the risks, as insanity can be several times worse than death ever will.

Do you hear their voices, whispering in the glade? Why must they leave me behind? Why did I fail in my duties? No, I belong here, with the timeless statues of old, keeping a timeless vigil with them. Leave me be, and never return.

But hey, Arc already won the thread. KoA wins.

I like silent legion better because it is harder and more fun to play through. Blades of the fallen has a nice atmosphere though, and I like it a bit too.

I have to say Blades of the Fallen. It's got an edge to it. The map is confusing to the new player. You meet your first greavers. The puzzles are difficult (the first time around). The monsters have impenetrable spots. Silent Legion has some really lame beginning levels. Blades of the Fallen sticks you right in the action. Silent Legion has one simple boss that keeps respawning. Blades of the Fallen has four bosses that seem undefeatable at first. And I have to say that Blades of the Fallen was where I met my first vanguard. It was around the time of the guardian armor packs so I thought it was a class you could buy. Then he pulled out the blitz needle; after having tried that very mission several times using up all my mist each time, I thought he was some sort of ultra-pro. It's pretty amazing to see a blitz user after trying to break a trojan's shield with a shocking edge.

I'd go with Silent legion

Sometimes I feel like Arkus in my own way. It makes me wish I was an unknown fallen knight instead.

Anyways, that's a totally different story that has happened to me way too many times, Silent Legion for my vote.

But if this thread isn't 100% strict: Ghosts in the Machine. I feel like there is such a huge story somewhere in there, we just came too late to find it.

That unreleased Post-Vanguard mission that no one will ever get bored of.

Pretty sure I heard something about post-vanguard missions being developed at some point.
