I love this game for it's great patches

http://files.sharenator.com/trollface_RE_My_4_20_shopping_list_lol-s469x...

Nah but seriously, the forum needs some spicing up with positive thread. I'll begin.

The thing I love most about this game is how well everything is designed when it comes to combat and the way these little gimmicks are implemented into the game. What I love is how combat puts ALOT of emphasis on the playes's skill instead of the usual point and click. What I love about this game is the progress source 10ME/10CE forces a player to get the most out of every floor. I like how this discourages people to rush and makes every playthrough feel complete. I love the Energy system in general because you only use it when you play, plus you actually get some when you're not playing. The thing with most MMO's and monthly fees is that it unconsiously forces you to play as you're paying per month and it'd feel like a waste if you didn't play. The energy system doesn't doe that and makes you feel comfortable. I love how energy is such a valuable source as people really treat it like real money, even when it's free because you're really working hard to earn it. This adds such a great dimension to the gameplay.

I used to be a big PSO lover, I mean a huge one. I think i'm starting to love this game more. I want to support this game with the little money I can pour in and at the same time buy great stuff with it each month and hopefully see it expand.

What I hope is that they add a great variety to how the dungeons play. We allready have stuff like switches, objects, spikes and all that, but it needs more.

3 rings, thank you for this awesome game, you guys nailed it.

Hi

Gameplay/ Mostly, like you said, easy to play - harder to master. Once OOO released PvP, it's only going to get better for me (I'm a PvP person)

One of the things I enjoy

One of the things I enjoy most about this game is the potential to play both solo, or in a group. If I want to play by myself, the game won't punish me for it, if I feel like playing with some friends, that's just dandy too.

Some level of skill is needed as you go further, and the difficulty curve isn't that bad at all. All three weapon families we have so far are viable, different play styles to play with and master (even within the same type of weapons).

I am not as hardcore of a gamer as I used to be when I was younger, so I appreciate the micropayment system. I can do just about everything in the game just fine without being short on crowns or energy even if it may take a bit longer at times, and if I want some instant gratification or want to show my appreciation to OOO I can decide to throw cash at it (and I have once so far, when I have more money in the future I definitely will more often)

I also appreciate the rate the game updates at, sure there have been lots of small updates that aren't directly playable content, but the addition of the auction house has definitely added to the game for me personally. I can turn a nice profit selling extra materials or picking up recipes to stick on it. I especially appreciate the work that has been being put into the AH since it's release, the developers have my Kudos, staying up beyond the work hours the average person tweaking or improving code.

And then there's the overall design of the game, the delicious whipped icing on the cake so to speak, while I don't judge a game by it's graphics or music I still greatly appreciate it when there design and composition is so great.

This game is beautiful, the character, weapon, and environment design is amazing, same goes for the sound and music.

I eagerly await the new update, be it small or major.

I love the art of the game.

I've been following (or stalking) Ian Mcconville since he started Mac Hall and he seemed to love doing art and gaming.

The only reason I joined the game was to help him pay his bills. No kidding.

There are a lot of things to like.

I like the creature design, with most things being a bit whimsical. It contributes to a feeling of joyful play. The music, too, contributes to the playful mood.

I like the crafting system, building up my equipment a bit at a time, each step a noticeable improvement, but never completely overpowering. I like that it has a few steps to it, but not too many. I like that UVs allow for differences in equipment of the same type, but you don't have to deal with a lot of minor stat variations apart from that. I like that it plays overall more like a video game than an RPG.

I like the elegance of the system of damage classes and how strengths and weaknesses are assigned to the different creature families. It's enough to be interesting, but not overly complex.

I like that more powerful equipment is debuffed near the top of the clockworks and grows in strength as you descend, making the levels fun for a wider range of equipment, while still allowing high end equipment to grow far stronger deeper in.

I sorta noticed this too, but never had any confirmation. If you want, could you please eleborate on how that actually works. Does 3 rings have a faq about it anywhere?(wiki maybe?)

Last time I was talking with a friend that you're never really overpowered in the game, but I couldn't point my finger to why that was that way.

Mist Energy flows from the core, it powers the armor, weapons, everything. There is more near the core then on the surface, more to draw upon means the weapons/armor are stronger closer to the core. If I remember the lore right anyways.

So they do more damage (in numbers) close to the core? I do not have the option switched on in seeing the numbers but if you know, please confirm.

It's just nice to know stuff like this because I think it's really clever gamedesign and keeps the game fun no matter what tier you go. I got 4 star equips and still find myself doing my best at tier 1 danger rooms lol. Not that I suck or anything, but i certtainly don't feel overpowered.

Oh and thx btw

Holy ... I didn't realize that our Ian was the Ian, from Mac Hall! Awesome stuff, now I must demand a mogmod costume :D

On topic:
It's simple, I love the game play. It's reminiscent of older classic action games I played as a child, Gauntlet Legends, Zelda, and later PSO, and many others, but those were most notable. OOO pretty much hit the nail on the head there, and the only issue is we're still playing a very young game. In time, more content will make the game play more awesome.

I really enjoy the level

I really enjoy the level design, enemy design and enemy placement within the levels.

The closest allegory I can come up with is the first Castlevania.
What I mean is that Castlevania I has incredibly thoughtful level design - its designed such that you can't just rush straight through, in fact rushing straight through often gets you killed. In so many situations, you gotta weigh your options, approach the obstacle carefully and with awareness, and take some time and thought to actually get past it.
Spiral Knights is exactly like this. Take a look at the next set of obstacles you pass through - you'll realize that generally there's ways to tackle it that are safer than what's more obvious or direct. It keeps you on your toes.
And the game is made so that even if you have a full set of five-star gear, you still have to pay attention, because even on tier 1- if you just zone out and click click click, you'll snap to and realize your vog and grey owlite wearing self is lying in a puddle of his own heat in Depth 2.
The Castlevania analogy works even better since most other MMOs can typically be compared to Castlevania II - uninspired level design and enemy placement, and mindless grinds, backtracking and repetitive tasks.

This is all aside from the wonderful art, creative design and visual presentation of the game as a whole, which is overall very well put-together and incredibly appealing, and the realtime gameplay, which is very engaging and exciting even after many repetitions.

I like the action-RPG

I like the action-RPG elements and the modular dungeons (I hope they add more types of scenery/rooms/puzzles in the future too). To be honest, I was thrilled to find a F2P that I could play with a gamepad, and didn't have a ton of skills/hotbar/complex stuff to learn before I could start having fun.

I like the overall art style a lot, and how it's simple yet still creative.

Absolutely Love it~!

I love this for many reasons. On the first day I saw the trailer of Spiral Knights, I find the design of the game is rather cute yet epic at the same time ( cause the trailer they previewed a Vanaduke Run). I went to sign up with a though in mind that it would be like most other online games I've played. Needing to download a large client and having to play it on the PC, but to my surprise it was also playable on Mac.

Thus I log into the game, created a character, spent a few runs in the Crash sites dungeon til my starter set is lvl 5, and finally reached Haven. I started exploring everywhere, figuring what do I have to do in the game, checked the shops to be shocked that price of the items NPC sold @.@, and finally entered t1 with some other random players. Met a good friend, add alot after posting at "Friend Recruitment", Crafted some fine gears (Really like it). I played every single day cause I was on my Sem break.

Til this day Im wearing 5* Hat n Armor and still working getting my weapons to 5*, the game has changed alot. Though everyday I see alot of people still flaming bout the Crafting prices on the forum, the game is still fun and enjoyable for fun. OOO didn't ruin anything for me, Im still doing jelly runs and normal runs getting crowns~ n yet to explore t3. Each week im only able to play on weekends, but heck Spiral Knights still provide me hours of fun each of those days. Im looking forward to seeing what other things they've had to update, Love Spiral Knights.

"So they do more damage (in numbers) close to the core? I do not have the option switched on in seeing the numbers but if you know, please confirm. "

In Tier 1 my Divine Avenger doesn't even hit for 100, in Tier 3 it typically hits for 300+ so yes, you do more damage closer to the core (enemies also have more health/deal more damage closer to the core).

Welp Machall/Threepanelsoul

Welp Machall/Threepanelsoul has been covered by drmchsr0, Oedipus, and Dirt...

But I still have to mention how awesome they are and its great to see Ian's influences in this game.

Its also nice to see zelda gameplay mixed with MMORPG. which makes this game awesome. A online ACTION rpg that incorporates actual skill with items and with friends? Hell yes.

Throw it in the bag

Many things I love about this game would take months to list them all, but these are a few:

1. The gameplay is very relaxed its nothing that you will e-rage about and be like OMG
2. A lot of style of weapons to choose from so once you get bored of a weapon you can just pick up a new one
3. Dev's feedback they gave great feedback to the players if you go through the right channels
4. The in-game economy which is player run is great puts the players in control.

That is all for now =)

Some of these have already

Some of these have already been mentioned, but:

1) Like chess: easy to learn, but difficult to master
2) Great art; I like the cutesy feel
3) As casual or hardcore as you want. T3 takes skill to beat; wearing 5* equips is not enough to get you to the core.
4) Evolving constantly. It's a rough road, but that's part of what makes the journey ultimately enjoyable- on the whole, the game has improved despite the potholes and missteps.

I really like that the combat

I really like that the combat itself seems so well thought-out. I mean, take shield canceling as an example. What other MMO employs a technique you would normally find in a competitive timing-based fighting game, ala Soul Calibur?

Shield push is another one. It's just such a good idea. It gives players a way to avoid being mob-locked and beaten to death by allowing them an occasional shove, while at the same time giving them a potential offensive tool (shoving attacking mobs next to other mobs, shoving mobs into bombs, shoving them into corners).

With both of these abilities, an existing basic control (defensive shield) is utilized and given expanded utility, which reduces the overall complexity of controls while increasing the depth of the experience for the player.

That kind of attention to detail with the combat will give this game a life beyond the normal MMO, I think. As someone who has played a lot of games, I respect the good choices that were made here. At its most basic level, the game is deep, but in a way that is fun and intuitive.

I love the costume option.

I love the costume option. Other MMOs have had it, but that doesn't make it any less wonderful here.

I like the game's unique quirks, like how Snipes fly in their helicopter-style, and how Strangers have different faces painted on to their faceplates. I can't wait until I build my new computer and can put the graphic settings on high, because it really is a beautiful game.

I like that the gameplay isn't quest-driven, believe it or not. I know a lot of folks miss quests, but I prefer it just being open. Sure, a quest for bonus heat/crowns would be nice (say, if you can only pick it up at the beginning of a tier, and complete it by finishing that tier) but it's not necessary.

I actually like that Basil doesn't always have the same recipes. It adds a certain thrill when he finally has the recipe you need. :)

I think chromalisks are cute. Also, kats.

I love the gameplay of this.

I love the gameplay of this. Hands down one of the best of the MMOs I've played. And I don't get bored. It keeps me on my toes because it's more than just point and click and sit back and watch the showdown. I feel far more immersed in the game play and that's what I find the most fun.

Other things in no particular order, the magic hood and cloak line, the monsters, the graphics in general are just wonderful, the use of the gamepad (<3 <3)--there are so many things I love that keep me coming back. You guys are building a great game and despite a few gray areas that I am still ehhhing over, I still love playing.

I really love it for that

I really love it for that nostalgic/''old-school'' feeling.

It's like playing Zelda, Megaman, etc, all crunched into one game. As soon as I found out I could use my controller I immediately set up my controls for it and refuse to play without it. It just... seems unnatural to play Spiral without a controller.
