It seems like you met the large Lichen Colony. I remember these being really hard in my 2* days... good memories :D
For newer players, I would reccommend you to learn its attack patterns. There is a big difference I believe in its charge up animation for spikes coming out of the ground attack and the spikes that are shot out of it attack (Sorry I really suck at explaining xD). Using a gun helps alot since you can keep your distance. It also helps if you tell us what gear you obtained so far.

When I feel like getting the right graphics driver for my computer, I'll play with you on my Knight-ranked character... but that's whenever I fix it........ At the moment SK is even slower than a slideshow and I don't bother opening it.
I can't play with you, but If it's too hard consider changing difficulty to "normal" when you do missions or the clockworks. Also, if your problem is with the slime family, consider making a shadow weapon. I think you should ask advice about which ones to make. Also, try making armor in the wolver line, as they have sword damage bonus (all armors except vog cub coat) for wolver, dusker, ash tail snarbolax and skolver armors while vog cub gives sword attack speed increase. I suggest checking the wiki about these.
