Achievements should give rewards

Having rewards for the achievements would provide more of an incentive to get them, besides the feeling of accomplishment. It'd give players a goal, really, because there's no such thing as quests or anything in this game... something to aim for, besides getting good equipment or beating the two bosses of the game. For example, 'World of Moorcraft' would give a small sum of crowns, or something. Of course, some achievements don't have to give rewards, and I just used 'World of Moorcraft' as an example because it's the first thing that came to mind. :P

As I write, I was thinking that there should be equipment-related achievements that don't involve crafting directly; that is, defeating 100 monsters with a sword would net you an achievement, or blocking 100 attacks would give you some sort of shield-related achievement. Something that can tie into these kinds of achievements would be general boosts to your character's performance-like increased attacking speed, decreased charge time, more range, higher shield HP... of course, it wouldn't be overkill, breaking the game. It'd substitute for the general idea shared by RPGs-leveling up your character gives better stats, so you can defeat stuff faster and get more EXP, getting to a higher level... repeat, repeat. In that sense, you'd be 'leveling up' that aspect of your character. Heat levels just doesn't feel that fun, mainly because it's equipment-based-it doesn't feel right, for whatever reason. Like your equips make the character, and that's it.

I mainly think achievements should have more of an impact on the game because as of now, Spiral Knights is... fairly monotonous and, sadly, without much variety in levels. After you play for a while, it gets tiring to go through levels, and since there's only two bosses in the game... yeah, there's not much to it. Either the game needs to be larger (more than just three tiers), or there needs to be more special levels-not increased chance of getting them, but more TYPES. Achievements playing a part would help make the game more entertaining in the long run.

I'd suggest some achievements myself, but I don't want to look like an imbecile, because I'm not all that creative. =/

I was thinking an

I was thinking an "achievement bingo". Single achievements wouldn't get you stuff, but you would get stuff for finishing "lines". Or... achievement luxor or something.

Achievement bingo would be

Achievement bingo would be fun, with the achievements being split up into 'cards'. For example, one card may have a row with reaching the rescue camp, alchemizing an item, using 10 health capsules, finding a friend, and getting your first mineral. Filling this row would get you something like a swordstone, and filling the entire card would get you a mist tank or maybe a unique 1* item.

Another card may be the exact same copy, only the achievements are harder. The same row may now be to reach the first terminal, alchemize 10 items, use 50 health capsules, find 5 friends, and get 100 minerals. Filling this row may get you something rarer, like a few tokens and filling the entire card could get you another mist tank or maybe a unique 2* item.

Then, maybe we could have a card with achievements for filling out cards? It would be insanely hard to finish, with things like fill all 1* cards or fill 10 cards. The prize for filling this completely would have to be epic.

This is a terrible idea, and

This is a terrible idea, and all the current batch of achievements are incredibly uninspired or just designed to convince you to blow through more CE. Great link monkeyman, that's how I feel about achievements.

The question is how you would

The question is how you would do these 'inspiring achievements' that the video talked about in an MMO. You can't do a pacifist runs, but we could get achievements for bomb-only, gun-only, or sword-only runs. Maybe we could do one where you have to do a floor solo with only a gun, and you can't miss? It'd be hard...

Good and bad idea?

I agree with ageatii on how these achivements are leaning towards wasting energy, but if we're going to wase energy on them (And I'm shure not) We might as well get something out of it. Not much, but still something of noticeable value. Either way, the designers should be putting more time into new mosters and equipment (And lowering crafting energy costs) than things like achivements and four times overpriced heat amplifiers.

I think rewards should be

I think rewards should be given in groups, like the ones where you need to get for example: 3 guns, then 5, then 10, after that you could get something.
The World of Moorcraft could give this maybe: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Magikat_Hat
Also, if you get the achievement where you reach Emberlight you could get this maybe: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Darkfang_Shield

There should be killing achievements, get so many kills of a sertain monster, rewards for these are optionable.
Example: kill Lord Vanaduke maybe 10 times get: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Heater_Shield or kill him 15 times get: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Blackened_Crest and maybe 25 times, get: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Crest_of_Almire

Those are just some of my ideas. And yes I know there are other ways to get these items, I sugested them because they fit into the achievements.

"Your music's bad and you should feel bad!" :D

On topic: The current achievements lack any imagination, although a few of them (the no-deaths ones) can be challenging without a solid, experienced team and a little luck. As such, I don't really see why they should give rewards.

If there were rewards for achievements, I'd hope they would be strictly cosmetic.
