The reason why Spiral Knights is dying is simply because the veterans keep scaring off new players with worries that the game will die. This causes new players to avoid the game, and not spend potential money towards keeping the game alive. Veterans quit later. No more new players are coming in. OOO goes bankrupt.

Predictable result.

Stop scaring off the new players if you don't want your precious game to die.

gods ain't gonna help you, son.

1 quit saying the game is dying.
2 join some random parties and say to newbies that the game is good. if you don't feel like that's true, say it's not bad.
3 bring bombs and say there are more powerful weapons around.
4 if they have trouble, say chaos is the best, or make them go for offensive armor. that will make them craft them with the result that the game will be much more appeling to them, since it will be easier.
those are my tips. surely someone will have better ones.

@Slovenian

Scaring off the new players means that new players might not want to play the game if they see a thread that the game is dying.

I know but true things are

I know but true things are true. So many things were perfect when they broke them whit ideas to fix them even if those were not broken (as I said many times before). At least older players knows that. BTW I don't want to "scare" new player because I belive there are stuff they will make cool with new updates and so on...

Do you mean to say that they see us on the forums complaining and then quit because of it? If so, most players don't read/care about the forums.

how the mighty have fallen

The game is dying because triple donuts is killing it. No radiants, no gear, gear, no players, no players, no money spent, no money spent, no content.

Thunder-The-Bright has the

Thunder-The-Bright has the right idea. If a small portion of knowledgeable players join a low ranking mission (2-x to 4-x or training hall) and provide help or tips to new players, then it positively impacts the population counter ever so slightly. Just doing this a single time or because you're bored can have small-but-good repercussions later on.

I don't think Spiral Knights is going to really pick up until after OOO's next set of plans. I wouldn't personally recommend this game to anyone in its current state. Aside from parts that can look like a paywall to new players, I feel it needs a pinch more variety.

To me the most troubling aspect that shows the game is dying are the guilds filled with MIA players.

I have no mouth and I need to scream

Death must be the new favorite talk of the community.

eh, antisocial-ism always comes back to bite those with it in the rear eventually.

Of course, making a post with that title will inevitably have the exact same effect since a number of those very new players will see this post, go "christ, more?" and not even read it.

I have a perfect song to play for every death thread.

I would post a link the song and say nothing else. But it has a single bad word in it so I'd likely get banned.

Bamzalot, post the link as Not safe for work (NSFW).

"Scaring off the new players means that new players might not want to play the game if they see a thread that the game is dying."

What's the purpose of making "this game is dying" threads then? Peoples preference in games vary.
