Has Heartbleed affected Spiral Knights?

Putting it out there for those of you that do not know what Heartbleed is, it was a bug made by Open SSL that allowed people using it to hack into system unnoticed and take out login details, credit card numbers and thus many more.
It got patched up pretty quickly but in this period of time who in the world knows what happened and if anything was done. Any hacking although would go unnoticed and leave no traces behind D:

Just a question for the Devs here nothing much to worry about, but if any players are worried go change your passwords now!

Might be a good idea to contact support about this issue too.

Should we make a thread in the technical section?

XKCD has a good example of just what Heartbleed does.

I'm pretty sure Heartbleed only affects https. Do either of you know if that is correct?

I have no mouth and I need to scream

Would REAAAAALLLLY like to know if one of the higher ups can confirm this. I've already changed my passwords on the mmos I currently use. This one isn't a special exception.

assuming SK uses the same encryption as Puzzle Pirates there shouldn't be anything to worry about

Thanks Hyperion

Knew I could count on a Rocket Powered Snipe to come to the rescue.

p.s. Spiral Knights still has one of the best customer support in the world out there.

@ Petater

So did South Park change their game name to that or did a user just custom rename his game that?

info

There is no way of telling whether or not sk has been affected by this. It was an errant rouge packet that was sent along with the normal ones and remained undetected until it met a extremely high security site. If you are worried about it then you should change you password just to be safe. However its safe to say that nobody is interested in a bunch of astronaut clown costumes so i wouldn't worry too much about it . The target was credit card numbers, bank account numbers and personal info of the wealthy. Rest assured there is nobody that fits that description that plays this game. To be clear wasting several hundred dollars on a few ridiculous looking useless items does not constitute wealth in the real world.

my 2 cents

If you have any suspicious transaction on your credit card then I suggest contacting your bank and dealing with this.

The thing is wth a Credit card, the money is owned by the bank and lended to you until you pay back at the end of the month, so they take this very seriously unlike if your debit card gets cloned.

I sell pc to eldery and I always tell them, the internet is safer now then buying physically since the internet can track anything. No matter how many proxy you use or dynamic IP, your ISP provider can still show your IP's in a time frame...

Don't worry about this, you have bigger fish to fry and your bank is always there if something goes wrong. Also always use your credit card + paypal and you have 45 days to make a complaint and have paypal investigate if necessary.
