Anybody ever wonder what the morai look like?. Just in case if you don't know who the morai are. The morai are the enemy that the "Knights" (Us) were fighting on they're home world which basically almost drove them to the brink of extinction during their war. But how exactly strong are the morai? are they a rival race?,faction in their race?,aliens that aren't from their planet. but whoever or whatever they are they must have been a powerful force in order to drive us knights to near extinction. They must have been a threat right? so iv'e done a little depiction on how they might look

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-dyOcpkulLT0/U0iu_NYmx_I/AAAAAAAAAaQ/E...

but heres a lil idea about a morai recon ranger that had happened to crash onto cradle thus starting a new danger mission- which is to investigate an Unidentified crash site which at the very end leads to a mini boss fight. Which is (Obviously the recon ranger) but just imagine this whole thing would be a boss even though its just a recon ranger can you just imagine the sheer power of any other morai? (Results are coming soon)

I couldn't really understand

I couldn't really understand the last paragraph, but I assume the people on their homeworld was in a civil war. What I think is that there was a single government ruling the planet and the Morai were the rebels and caused a rebellion which caused the civil war. They must have fought a long time, or nuclear warfare wiped out most of the population.

This is just what I think what happened and there might be some good explanations in the treasure vault.

What if these are the Morai,

What if these are the Morai, somehow.

I know this doesn't exactly fit the lore, but something about those corpses scream Morai to me.

@Soulstake, you sure do have

@Soulstake, you sure do have a point like i said "Or they could be a FACTION in their race"

@Eternal-koniko,No they are not the morai but you do have a point there, but that means if the morai were rebels that would mean they would have lowere tech, thus explaining why they have primitive space suits there. Or it just might be earlier travelers that have passed away there

The Morai wars and the Knight's culture are the most interesting aspects of the game to me. Was it a civil war? What other races were involved? Were they of the same species? Are "Knights" just a military group? What was the home planet like? What was the warfare like? What was ship combat like?

What I find unique is that with their state of technology firefights wouldn't have focused on instant-death lead projectiles. They've got forcefield shields and "energy" weapons!

There is one question that rises above the rest though:
If our ship was in the shape of a giant sword, does that mean other ships might have been in the shape of a giant gun?!

Why do you think the rebels have lower tech? I think since the planet was ruled by a single government in a future setting, all regions in the planet should have similiar technology. Yes maybe they can't continue producing arms and munitions as well as under the the government but keep in mind anyone can join the rebellion including people such as engineers and scientists.

@Soulstaker, If you had a war

@Soulstaker, If you had a war and you were the leader of that war who has access to all the best tech there is would you supply YOUR soldiers with the tip toppity best tech there is? yes you will and rebellions dont have access to the "Tippity toppity" best tech there is. thus rebelions have lower tech

Maybe..Just maybe....

I dunno what the Morai look like but I definitely know who does. It's the guy who has the concept art for them somewhere buried in his folders. :P

Anyways, I wouldn't believe so since the fact we were searching for an EVEN MORE POWERFUL SOURCE OF ENERGY to counter them before we unfortunately got swatted down by giant lasers.

That's your opinion on what they look like, not the Lead Artist's opinion of Ian McConville :P I do like the armor though, rather retro and reminds me of the Game: Out of This World.

@OP

here is my interpretation of Morai, the one you see in the comic is the Morai emperor, Deus Aradama, an extremely gross looking xenomorph with no gender or reproductive organ, in this comic, the Morais have underwent centuries of selective breeding and population control, their original form is not known.

An Isoran Introduction

From as far back as Isoran history can be traced, all that is known is the rule of the majestic Big Cobalt and his benevolent Morai. Of course, Isoran history only reaches back about one hundred years, due to a series of accidental fires, explosions and rogue mech accidents which destroyed all of the archives ever.

Big Cobalt assures the populace, however, that he has been in charge since the dawn of time, and will continue to be in charge until the last star supernovas. Any Isoran who steps out of line, says the wrong thing, eats the wrong Rocky Core or looks at one of the many hidden cameras in a funny way will be subjected to Morai Therapy, designed to improve the species. In fact, all Isorans should volunteer for this. Sign up now.

Hold up

Why aren't we the Morai? It never says that we aren't.
And hexy... how do you KNOW that?

I completely agree. (Also asdfghjkl so much wild speculation.)

But... now I'm thinking about this from a historical perspective.

  • The name Morai comes from somewhere. It's not necessarily the name of a species or race. It could be a city, a geographic area, a planet, a weapon, an event, or even a political crisis.
  • Are Knights even a species or race of their own? The more I think about it the more it makes sense, we are the Order of the Spiral Knights!
  • In the opening all it says is that "the Morai Wars . . . brought us to the brink of extinction" and that "the crew of the Skylark fled to the stars [to find something that could] save [their] homeworld." There are no implications of genocide, just that we were getting desperate for a way to save our home planet.

No-Thanks
they look like boogers

if "Morai" is derived from "Moirai", then it might just be a metaphor for the knights having fought their fate, w.e that couldve been..

in perfect world they have a place called morai and most terms in their game seem to be derived from religion or history
in sk they use all kinds of references, most of which i dont even understand, even when uncovered on the forums, so it wouldnt be far fetched to expect them to use references from virtually any area
in simpsons they have math references for example..(u can check numberphile on youtube for that)

Who even says that the Morai

Who even says that the Morai are a group of people/race? Morai is the name of the war. Like Cold War, Revolutionary War, Civil War, etc. Were those names of a group of people? No. Also, Morai could probably (and what I'm betting on) mean a place. For instance, the Vietnam War, Pearl Harbor, and the Persian Gulf War. Why does does everyone think they are people?

We can still assume that they are a different race of beings

Yes. It does say MORAI WARS in the prologue. Doesn't describe the Spiral Order's enemies still. There is definitely room (entire universe :P) for other sentient beings who have the ability to travel through space as well.

I don't know for sure, but I

I don't know for sure, but I know the opening sequence WASN'T the first thing to reference the Morai. From what I inferred was that the Morai are a group of people, not just the name of the war. I'm also certain one of the missions said "We fought against the Morai"

Morai are a race/clan

Don't usually comment in this forum, but meh.
The Morai are, indeed, some sort of faction/race/whatever as Thunder has found.
If you look at the iron wolf/dragon sets description:
"A helm once worn by a member of the 'Iron Wolves,' a squad of fearless knights that specialized in the elimination of high-profile Morai targets. After disbanding, their surviving members were united with other squads by Desna to form the Recon Rangers."
High profile Morai targets. This suggests that them being a sort of life form/faction is indeed canon, and not "Morai" just being used as the soul purpose of the name for the war itself.

....

The knights just fought too much on Isora so they split into the Spiral Order and the Morai. Then, they sent a scout ship to another planet where they crash and break their ship's engine. Then they kill anything in their way so they can steal the core and GTHO Cradle.

If that word is derived from

If that word is derived from Moirai, it could imply that these guys feel they should have control of the future of the spiral knights' homeworld. Makes me wonder if it's the game's equivalent of beings rejecting something like manifest destiny that the Morai seem to subscribe to.

Still though, they don't sound quite as dangerous as the Crimson Order or the King of gremlins; probably has to do with the past tense phrasing of the Morai, like it's behind us.
