I just started yesterday, and have a few questions...

1. How do you get items with different things? (high fire resistance) etc (the craftable items)

2. What do people mean when they say Selling x item with UVs

3. I currently have the wolver cap and chest, calibur, and the proto-gun. What should I upgrade to? I want to be able to take lots of hits - a tank I guess you could say. (Is brute jelly good?)

4. I don't really understand leveling.. So could a new player go straight to 5* gear?

I really appreciate the time you guys put into answering my questions!

Hope this helps you out

1. Those different things you are talking about sound like uv's (Unique Variants) which are given to you randomly when crafting an item. You can buy them from the auction house as well. If you do have ce you can just uv craft which means you craft an item until you get your desired unique variant.

2. Uv's = Unique Variant so they are selling an item which has an unique variant.

3. Well if you want to be a tank I would recommend this armor:

Volcanic Plate set (it has normal and elemental defense, but lowers your attack speed)

Vog Cub Set (Normal elemental attack speed boost)

What I suggest is first find your playing style in the game (Which monsters are hard for you to kill? Which monsters do the most damage to you? Which style of weapons do you like?) and after you answer those questions check out the Wiki (This thread will help: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/List_of_alchemy_paths ) to figure out everything.

4. Leveling works like this:

Items either start at 1* or 2* or 3* or 4* or 5*

So basically:

1* to 3* you can craft straight away without gaining heat (Heat helps you level up your gear max level on an item is 10).

3* to 4* (Your 3* item has to be level 5 or higher)

4* to 5* (Your 4* item has to be level 10 to get make it into 5*)

5* (You have to complete the training to gain certain bonuses of the weapons, armors, shields, etc.)

To obtain a 5* weapon the only one I know of which is direct 5* weapon is the Heater Shield (You just need the recipe mats and heat to craft it).

I hope that helps if it was not clear for you just let me know and I will attempt to help you again.

I have trouble with range

I have trouble with range attack enemies. I can deal with face to face combat, but its the statues and stuff that manage to get me. I also seem to have real trouble with the freeze status effect.

Can you explain UV crafting with CE to me?

After looking, it seems that

After looking, it seems that perhaps the Skolver set would be my best bet. Now for swords and guns I'm not sure haha

If you're going head to head

If you're going head to head against Gun Puppies (statues), I suggest that you shield right before they attack.

UV crafting is just crafting tons of an item (or an item earlier in the advancement tree) in order to get the UV you want.

For guns, there's a few nice Gunslinger threads in New Recruits and General, you might want to check there. Personally, I like the Alchemer series, but it is horrible against wolvers and gremlins.

1. like mentioned unique

1. like mentioned unique variants can provide the resistance but some items inherently have resistance to certain things like fire

2. its been answered theres a 10% chance of unique variant happening when you craft an item

3. seems like it was answered

4. no leveling but u cant trade 4* and 5* equipment so u would need to make it yourself u can from the start get a full set of 3* equipment

3. Honestly if you want to

3. Honestly if you want to tank this is kind of the wrong game. There's no real classes in this game... no healers, no tanks, and EVERYBODY is DPS. Think more Legend of Zelda then your typical MMO. You dodge, shield, and attack when you have an opening (or when a party member has an enemies attention and you can smack them in the back of the head). You'll find the best players can absorb a lot of damage, but they also typically don't take a lot of damage because they know how to move around it.

How do you change the screen size of the game window without it closing on you?

one thing about the UV

one thing about the UV crafting: you only get a UV about 10% (thats what people generally claim, im not sure on the exact number) of the time when you craft an item. and then there are several types of UVs and how much of that UV (low, med, high, ect).

so UV crafting goes like this: say you want a wolver coat with UV freeze resist medium or higher on it, well you craft wolver coats over and over. typically you will just get a normal wolver coat. sometimes u will get a UV, but not the one you want. so you just keep crafting.

you should look at the UV page on the wiki, it is pretty useful in explaining how it works and what ones are available.
