Ello! I'm here to discuss something that's been on my mind for a while after roaming the arcade for what seems like forever, and I believe T2 Gun Puppies are in the place of what T3 Gun puppies are. I am not proposing a suggestion as to switching them from one tier to another, just stating my opinion and some facts. This is a discussion on if T2 gun puppies are in the right place. Trolls won't get a serious respond so go ahead and waste your time.

Some things I've noticed about these two Puppies are below.

All information was taken in a steady 3 bar connection, so some of my timing may be off for those with different connections

Tier 2 Gun puppy
-Fires a spread of 3 bullets at the same time
-2 seconds to launch its charge attack
-3 seconds cool down after firing
-Rotates as and after firing
-Getting close while it's firing its spread shot of 3 pellets can result in some damage
-Running around it while firing does not promise the safety as the 3 bullet spread shot is close up front.

Tier 3 Gun Puppy
-Fires a 5 bullet spread from right to left
-Takes 3 seconds to fire from its charge attack
-4 second cool down after using it's charge attack
-Due to always firing from the left then to the right, T3 gun puppies are almost always completely blindsided from the right side allowing you to sneak/run around it

Notice that it takes a T2 Gun Puppy 2 seconds less than a T3 time to fire and it rotates before and after firing to its aggro'd target. It takes a T3 Gun Puppy longer to fire plus with the addition of having its right side completely open to be flanked. T3 Gun Puppies aren't all bad, as to firing 5 bullets from the left to right side can cover a lot of ground.

My reasoning behind why I think T2 gun puppies are more dangerous than T3 ones is because T2 have much much more mobility allowing them to fire quicker and faster than the higher tier. If these puppies were powered up to the same damage as T3 puppies, which one do you honestly think would be more lethal?

If you can't answer the previous question, You can just do this. Grab anything from the auto gun weapon line. After that use both of its regular attack and its charge attack. Now imagine that the regular shots have the same damage as the charge attack and the charge attack remains the same.

Taken info via Spiral knights wiki
-Gun Puppy
"-Always shoots at least one shot in the direction of the player. They are quite predictable and easy to kill if alone; however, when multiple puppies appear, the sheer number of projectiles they can create makes them much more dangerous.
-Tier 2 gun puppies fire a spread of 3 bullets at the same time, and Tier 3 puppies fire a 5 bullet spread from right to left; this can be particularly lethal in areas with multiple gun puppies."

Of course the T2 variant is stronger than the T3 puppies.

Anybody who doesn't acknowledge that is no real SK player. Nothing to discuss about.

I find them harder even in Tier 2.

It is more likely for me to die by a Tier 2 Gun Puppy found in Tier 2 than it is for me to die to a Tier 3 Gun Puppy found in Tier 3.

I feel like the Tier 3 versions need to fire all shots at once and be able to turn while firing. Right now, only the undead and slime variants ever prove to be much of challenge.

Well, unless the Tier 3 Puppies are in that one danger room that has about 8 of them in every direction along with a few Rocket Puppies. That's the only spot where they prove challenging.

The true danger of a t3 puppy

The true danger of a t3 puppy isn't in close range but long range, and they're usually not alone. t2s are basically stationary mewkats that rotate but stay in place.

↓

T2 = 3 bullets in 5 seconds (0.600 Avg)
T3 = 5 bullets in 7 seconds (0.714 Avg)

It all depends on your method of dodging the bullets.
Kiting is easier for T3, while standing in between bullets is easier in T2.
T3 has a higher output of bullets.

T2 gun puppies are easier for me because I dodge between bullets instead of kiting counter-clockwise.

^ That, pretty much. I rarely

^ That, pretty much. I rarely bother trying to kite around them and dodge between, so I have a much easier time with T2 puppies than T3. It does initially throw me off after doing a bunch of T3 runs, though, and I'll forget they're more mobile, but aside from that it's not a huge deal.

@ Bamzalot "I feel like the Tier 3 versions need to fire all shots at once and be able to turn while firing."

That is actually a good suggestion. It could actually keep that difficulty curve that T2 brings when newbies come to it. This is probably because T2's skill level shoots up and lowers back down when you get to T3, well at least in my opinion.

@ Untrustful The long range is usually what's bad for gun puppies due to bullets spreading out (Waiting for bullets to spread and stepping in between bullets I mean, a tad bit harder in T3) Of course I think what I've just said only applies to one of them though. A whole room of quick firing T2 gun puppies can still dish out bullets that rival even that of T3 ones due to the 2 second advantage but with lowered damage. I know it doesn't sound like a lot but a bunch can happen in 2 seconds from SK.

@Skepticraven & Addy I see what you're both getting at. A single T2 Pup can be dodged but I believe the same could be said for a single T3 Pup. The higher bullet spread just makes it a little bit harder (As I've said in the above response).
