I did a run of Operation Crimson Hammer, Tier 3, on Normal mode, because I just needed the material. I didn't speed it either, I killed about 95% of everything.
It's labeled as "normal". This is anything but normal, I'd say. 8(
These are 5 floors, of Stratum 6. I think it's ridiculous that we have to play on Elite, always, to get decent payouts that are not a slap in the face. It really makes me sad how if we dare play anything but FSC on Elite, we're punished with extreme counter productivity, and let's be honest, that does ruin the fun.
This is the payout of a Tier 3 boss mission
Well, FSC isn't really the only place that has a high payout, just the best one, haha. Could always look at a list of data on mission crown payouts. Also, (in my opinion anyway) it's not 'extreme counter productivity' if you have fun doing it. Doing the same mission (*cough* fsc *cough*) over and over again repetitively will eventually bore you to death, so why not try something else for a change? Besides, it is a game after all, the point is really to have fun, isn't it?
I just speedran RJP in 9 minutes on normal solo, and got 1.4k from it. I think you're running the wrong mission :P
OCH is one of the only missions that you can run on normal and still get a phat payout, because the bulk of the payout is in the vendoring of the mask. You earn 8,333cr per run no matter what difficulty so long as you're running it enough times to craft that perfect mask. Combine that with the option to rush past vast sections of the mission and you have one of the easiest farming methods, provided you have the "orbs" for it.
I only go to FSC once a month and sometimes twice. This usually only happens when a friend needs me for Vanaduke or to fill in an empty party member though. I rarely ever go for my own purposes.
Instead, I make money by simply doing prestige missions and the Arcade. Most of the time I set it on Advanced mode because I don't want things to be to cheap and easy, but I also don't want to run around spamming a Cumbuster on everything in sight because I'm not that kind of player. Advanced mode gives me a reasonable drops for a reasonable difficulty. It is also unlikely for a bunch of people to kick me from a party on Advanced mode for not spamming Brandishes than it is on Elite. (Yep, that has happened before.) So I feel like I can use different things without risk. Fun+Money=Success if you ask me!
The next way I make money is to buy something from the Auction House, wait for a certain time to come, then put it back on the Auction House for more money. Then I use what I get from that to buy another Auction House item, and another, and another, and just keep reselling until I get the money I need. It takes a long time, but eventually a point will come were I can suddenly gain vast amounts of crowns.
The mission data link in post #2 is broken. Here is the correct link. The data don't include OCH and don't use speed-running, though.
Yes, King of Ashes is the most profitable mission, but that many missions pay at least half as much. So, if you're bored out of your skull on King of Ashes, then do something else. This isn't supposed to be a job, after all.
With the addition of choosable difficulties it said that "Normal" was easier than the old difficulty, "Advanced" was about on par with the original, and "Elite" was harder. What do you expect from easy mode?
Also the payout from OCH has always been sub-par compared to most areas in strata 6.

Its not how much you get per mission or even how much per floor. Its how much can you get from doing a mission in a certain time.
FSC pays good but takes a long time and may even cost you a spark if you lag (sparks are about 1.7k per at AH)
An Elite Snarby run takes considerably less time and you have to TRY to die. It is fast easy and pays about 2k per run. (you can probably skip the boss and still make a nice little wad of CR)

This was taken after running the brand new Emerald Rook Gate on T3 with every single possible danger room, all arenas, on elite.
I'll leave it up to you to decide how you play this game from now on :x
I found that Sewer Stash (6-2) has a good payout too, around 3K per run on Elite and it takes about 15-20 mins to complete.
Speedrunning FSC gives 7k+ per run (4k+ cr and 3 tokens) in about 15-20 minutes.
I don't have access to the FSC mission ;D
And I only care about the raw Cr, not tokens or all that random stuff. May not be the best way to "play", but I enjoy it at least.
Read OP. Skimmed replies.
Before they added difficulty levels, the game was as if it was always set to Advanced. So, yes, Normal is technically easy mode. I wish OOO would fix the name. If you want to play as if before the difficulties, play Advanced.
To be honest, Advanced and Normal are BOTH easy mode. Why? Because now you don't have to share pills/vitapods,
hearts/crowns stay on the ground longer,
you get a free revive every level,
you have the option to restart levels indefinitely (little monetary penalty for being bad at the game),
you can dash and bash (they technically were developed concurrently but were likely due to the 'big changes' agreed upon for that specific update)
and you have battle sprites providing you with what is basically a free trinket slot as well as access to some of the most overpowered skill sets like
heart attack and
invisibility and
fire storm and
hexing haze and
all the other extra damage from nowhere skills that are much much stronger compared to not having anything at all.
The big thing that you don't have any longer is........... health sharing revives. It only seems right that the game become harder, and it did so only on elite mode.
For the record I did OCH on normal today in 27 minutes and got 1766cr. So yeah The payout for this mission is super bad.. BUT once you add the 8.3kcr for the mask vendor it's actually 10kcr. Not bad!
I only care about the raw Cr, not tokens or all that random stuff.
But you can trade tokens for reward items, which you can vendor for crowns. For example, 30 Almirian Seals can be traded for a 5-star armor, which you can vendor for 30,000 crowns. Therefore, when you get 3 Almirian Seals on a Vanaduke run, you're essentially getting an extra 3,000 crowns. That's why people include token counts in the payouts. It actually affects the total earnings substantially, even if you care only about crowns.
I'd have to second Sewer Stash especially if you need 4* orbs and it has an arsenal station on each floor (yeah you could have an alt/friend hold your spot in FSC while you go forge, but that's a pain)
That's true. I just never got the habit to take those and make money from them, mostly 'cause I can't solo Vana (and with my severe case of indefinite idling, I can't play in a Party).
Plus, everybody has farmed FSC to infinity. There's nothing wrong to try a different Mission every now and then. Even I got tired of the old burning castle, and I haven't farmed that much there.
@Bopp
my bad, haha, must've messed up. oh well
@Wavara
About what you said, you should also take into account sparks (which i'd assume you also ignored, due to your other post). 100 sparks can get you a 5* trinket, which you can sell for 10k cr, meaning each spark is worth about 100 crowns.
You could also make money using the same method for the other bosses like JK, whose 3 tokens are worth 700 crowns if you buy the 3* armor/helm/shield to vendor.
And i'm not quite sure what you meant by your last few sentences, since no one said there was anything wrong with it, I agree with you there. Doing the same thing again and again, whether profitable or not, is boring.
Additionally, y'know how you said you didn't have access to vana in your previous post? I think you should take a look at this nice place called the arcade.
Token/Sparks, it's all the same. I'm a hoarder, I don't sell those things P: And the Vana access thing was in response to Reto-Da-Liz "Speedrunning FSC [...] in about 15-20 minutes." In Arcade you can't do that :B
And just to clarify (because people often gets confused), I've been playing since mid-2011. So I'm pretty well aware what the Arcade is... and was. *nostalgia tears*
I discovered early on that "Normal" difficulty is basically easy mode in disguise. It's kind of an odd quirk to the game, but so long as the player knows they get more loot on higher difficulties it's not a problem. Honestly I only ever consider playing on Advanced or Elite unless I'm trying to just speedrun a level.
Also the entire in-game economy is pretty much based around everybody playing on Elite difficulty, making "Elite" normal.
