On a console at depth 23...
Source: Drone #003
I cannot continue. Depth 29 appears to be the end of the road. I am here, dressed as one of Vaelyn's knights. The squad is bad at keeping track of its members, so no one realized that I am not one of them. I have already rewired one of their terminals to myself, since the terminal only has 4 CPUs. This is pitiful compared to my 16 CPUs.
The reason I cannot jump to the Core itself is lack of energy. Much like the eye of a storm, the vast amounts of energy that are in the atmosphere of this planet do not exist very close to the Core. The sudden flux of energy levels would fry my electronics and would slaughter a biological being. While Vaelyn's squad fiddles around with a simple pass code locking the elevator (Which I have already found, but not entered for the aforementioned reason.), I am trying to hack something much more challenging: the Core itself.
It is actually another safeguard of the Core that creates this death-field. This field prevents anything from getting in and harnessing it. The energy that floats in the air and powers devices is only a side effect of the death-field. This planet itself is a side effect.
Unfortunately, the file containing the pass code isn't in a regular file, like most security systems. It's in a shadow file. Shadow files are the opposite of a compression archive. Even though this code could be only bytes long, this code sealed in a shadow file is several yottabytes in size. I cannot decrypt this file on my own. I need help, yet my siblings aren't available this close to the Core. It shall take me a roughly a thousand years to obtain the code at this rate.
