They are still possible. I contacted in-game support.
Me: Recently, a popular subject regarding the Clockworks stopped having treasure boxes "drop" equipment. May equipment still be received from treasure boxes? Is this intended or is this a bug? For some reason many do not find equipment anymore, including me.

Equipment drops from treasure boxes are very rare. It's not unusual to go a long time without seeing one.
Now ask Hyperion if its unusual for every single player in the game to stop reporting equipment drops period for about 6 months. Except one dude who is probably lying.
Not that it isn't possible that he does know that they do still drop, and is telling us the truth.
We have not had a reported drop since battlesprites were added.
Our GMs and CMs do not, as far as many of us players know, have access to the code that the developers have changed. You may get a similar response about the ultra poison barrier or the turret usable.
They are to directly help us with our problems in the game, or getting into the game. I don't think we should try to throw questions their way that we may get false positives out of.
So... There's still hope for getting a Darkfang Shield!

Actually, asking them about the poison barrier and turret kit would be a good experiment. If we get a response of:
"Hi!
Turret pickups and ultra poison barriers are very rare. It's not unusual to go a long time without seeing one."
Then we'll know that they're just lying to us or pretending to be robots again.

What's funny is that the community expects a player who finds equipment in the clockworks (boxes) to make a thread about their finding.

i bet the same as fehzor if you ask about if Ultra venom barrier or turret kit drop they will say "it drop" and we know they just said a lie. in fact, before the radiant patch where it increase the chance of drop a radiant, Clotho told us that radiants dropped in big amounts but we werent looking in the right place, after posting every place where you can find radiants. so pretty much Hyperion answer could be in some way the same as Clotho one.

I only got like 40 rads from rabid snarbs like a few days ago.
Most people didn't look in a SL for Rads. Probably because most didn't know what an SL was, but still, lawyer-mode is evil. pls nerf ooo

Greetings, The items you've described do exist and are possible to obtain in game. That said, as more powerful item drops they are less likely to spawn for any given player. Much like some other very rare items or even monsters it's possible to play for a long time between their appearances.

So it looks like item drops are as rare as those consumables that never appear...
I remember when I got an item drop, and it was after the Battle Sprite update. It was at the end in an elite JK, and of course I didn't even realize what I picked up until later xD. I think I just ended up selling whatever it was [I don't remember], and I also recently picked up an Eternal Orb from JK. Which, I didn't even know they dropped at that depth o_O
Maybe there's a coding error they added in the drop table when pets were released. It could be that they think the items are supposed to still be dropping, but aren't.
It's frightning how so many of you put on a nice face mask when asking a gm something then take it off and say stuff like this. ._.
I get what's trying to be done here but hope theres a better way to get around to the goal we want.
I'm not gonna deny the possibility of Shadow Lairs dropping gear but I think it's quite likely that they are unobtainable for whatever reason.
@Petater You could be onto something here. This might also explain why Almirian Crusaders dropped Crimsonite for a while after the Battle Sprites update (this seems to have been fixed since then).

It's likely because, after the sprite update, a LOT of drops were changed. Like Silkwings dropping Trojan Horseshoes and Jelly Cubes dropping Ironwood. What's up with that?
Oh my this is just comical we seriously asked and got that response. Day has been made.
It wouldn't surprise me if there were to be an error in the code some place... in fact, I'm almost entirely sure that poison barriers not dropping is a bug. The GMs even moved my thread to bug reports when I asked about it in GD, but then as we are all quick to note-- nothing is ever quite true.

the first (and last) equipment from a box I found was a crystal bomb I still use ocasionally

I looked for the barrier. I did not find one. People told me where to look. I've ran FSC and other levels countless times, and have never seen one.
I asked around for a pic of the barrier. No one delivered. They said they could deliver. They did not deliver.
I checked around merchants for the barrier. No merchants sold it.
I considered the question: Why would the developers make the poison barrier as rare as the darkfang shield only in T3?
Would the ultra poison barrier pickup somehow superior? By way of the fact that it is rare and harder to stack than other pickups, absolutely not. By way of the fact that ice, shock, and fire barriers are likely to be better anyway? Absolutely not. Curse vials would be more valued by myself. It would be middling, just like poison, shock, and fire vials.
It could be in the game and really rare. But I don't think it is. But it might be. But I still think it is bugged for some reason.

I still have my doubts. 8 months since free elevator updates and no confirmed item drops.
They must have really nerfed it since they expected people to be playing more often.
I actually play about the same as I did when ele passes were around. A lot, but not all day.
