T1 LD Heavy Hatchet or Thwack Hammer?

I have been playing T1 LD as a guardian and am pretty good (from what I'm told), and it was suggested to me that I shouldn't use the Heavy Hatchet, but instead use the Thwack hammer. Any ideas here? What is the difference between the two?

So as the title says, i found this while exploring tire 1. No clue what it is other then a scuttle bot, maybe its iron wall as a scutt? Who knows, I can't check drops because it is well, unable to be reached. here is the link to picture
