Accessories that do not add on, but rather represent "battle damage/repairs":
patches
flickering-glow eye(s)
scarring/tearing
rust
missing helmet chunks
asymmetric themes
Short and simple, opinions are welcome.

Think of Dangerous Gear, but more control over what's asymmetric. Just imagine if you could make one horn broken on your dread skelly helm, or have the bottom of your valk mail appear torn or tattered, wouldn't you do it?
OK, i've read your four tasty suggestions. I like them all, but since i'm nosy, i'm gonna say my ideas, in hopes i can add something
As hexzyle said, accessories can do what you want, but it's harder than it seems, because they are just a piece that is added. If you want to torn the valk mail, you have to change the way it behaves when the knight moves, for example, you can't just take a piece out.
But i's a great idea that goes along with your Experience vanity very well. We could set a counter to itens, just like there is heat. Every time you end a level, the bars would go up to the itens you've used on that level, and, at some point, they could become "experienced".
This is, however, a game where everyone likes cute stuff, so you idea being good or not, i don't think a lot of people will come here to upvote it.
I'm glad to hear you've read them!(Though you have yet to comment on my Vanity suggestion thread ;-;) And yes it would be tougher to add to the game, but I made point of it in my first thread due to an overhaul of all items so the same could be true here.
I also do like the idea of a bar that fills up alongside heat to make an item as "experienced." I'll throw that one in there. :)
Accessories are models. This would require alterations of textures, which is not something accessories can do on a global scale to all armors.
Having battle-damaged accessories would work though, something akin to the Bent Vertical Vents.
