Example: Wild Hunting Blade versus Dread Venom Striker: Aside from the additional ability to stutter enemies, the Dread Venom Striker usually surpasses the Wild Hunting Blade. So, what about having their inherited damage bonuses be able to surpass +6 Damage. (IE: Maximum!)

An example is that Wild Hunting Blade has Damage Bonus vs Beast: High. However, when paired up with a Maximum Damage Bonus on itself, it would surpass this point; rather than having +6 Damage Bonus (+42% Damage) it would have +6 Damage Bonus vs Everything and +9 Damage Bonus vs Beast. (+63% Damage)

This would apply to all weapons that have a base damage bonus such as the Irontech Bomb, Sentenza, and all other weapons. This will not, however, give armor the inherited damage bonuses bypass.

"To stutter enemies"Sorry

Retracted comment

I somewhat like this idea, but feel it could cause too much damage against certain types of monsters.

How far up were you thinking of adding to the Maximum! ? If that's at +6, were you wanting to add the high to it and make it +10 or w/e?

I was talking specifically about Wild Hunting Blade about interruption:

Aside from the additional ability to stutter enemies, the Dreadm Venom Striker surpasses the Wild Hunting Blade.

It depends on the original base Damage Bonus. Currently off the top of my head (since I can't check wiki because for whatever reason I cannot access it) that have Damage Bonus vs Family: Very High is two Shard Bombs.

Oh I see, I retract my

Oh I see, I retract my comment.

So, if something had a natural "high" (+3 I think), how would you want a Maximum! to work on it?

So, to make sure I understand this concept... You can equip an Argent Peacemaker (+2 vs undead), and wear two Gun Damage (+4 vs all) trinkets, and the Pet Perk for gun damage (+2 vs all). The Argent Peacemaker's innate Undead Med (+2) to stack with the Gun Damage (+6) the trinkets and perk give (for a total of +8 vs undead, +6 vs all)? I don't see why this couldn't happen.

And I'm assuming that if you had a Unique Variant: Undead Very High on the Argent Peacemaker, it wouldn't stack with the +6 from trinkets and +2 from the AP's innate bonus?

I'm all for something like this. We already have stacking damage bonuses past the cap with the powerup drops, so why not? It could help give that much more love to the weapons that suffer from over-specialization, like the Salt Bomb, Cautery Sword, Cold Iron Vanquisher, Sentenza, Deconstructor, etc.

↓

Damage boost increments are 4% of raw damage.
+6 would be 24%, +9 would be 36%.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

I like this. Right now, things like Cautery Sword (Yes I said it) and Stentenza are lacking. The problem is that these count as boosts rather than innate damage increases, like straight up damage.

I think that something is necessary.

When the game first came out, the only way it was even possible to get higher than maximum damage on something like wild hunting blade was through class armor or unique variants. Now however, we've got so many trinkets and glass cannon sets that actually work and what have you that I really do think that something would be necessary to fix these kinds of things.

I do not think that this is very exciting or particularly pleasing, or that this would be the big thing that gives cold iron vanquisher an edge.

Consider combuster and cold iron vanquisher at high damage boost. Which one would do more damage to undead? I'll go check, right now.

Damage in T3 Training hall:
Combuster@High Damage = 325
Cold Iron@MAX Damage = 246

So no, your suggestion would not fix the issue at hand in every case, and a better solution could be found elsewhere.
