Hire better marketers, even recruit some of the players from SK ... there are some very talented artists/programmers in the playerbase. Stop promos, focus on content. Appoint 4 SK players as PvE/PvP advisers who will voice the opinions of the players. Listen to suggestions, and add more PvE content, fix PvP and make it competitive, balanced, and add tourneys with prizes. Make SK reach the potential it always had.

I was about to be serious with this thread, then I thought about all these (pseudo) suggestions, in light of what's been happening, I decided to give up. Just stop complaining please.

they are already doing it

All the things which you posted they are already working on it ,also the the promos are needed so that they get financial support to improve the development of the game.

so this is the latest fad

So this is the latest fad in threads: "This beautiful game is dying and here's the simple way for the developers to save it."

The pessimism and redundancy of these threads don't bother me as much as the original posters' lack of self-respect and dignity. I'd be ashamed to make a thread that was an obvious rip-off of another thread.

I should stop complaining about people complaining to stop people complaining to stop the game dying. No one is going to change something by telling someone to stop. Like, this whole thing is going to happen whether any of us like it or not. I even made a thread about why it happens- because it indicates a real problem in the eyes of those players posting.

"Hire more people" is the crux of this post. Yes, yes I would agree. OOO should hire more people, maybe from the playerbase, maybe not. Especially some nice computer science majors, eh? The rest of your suggestions are already being done. The developers know that PvE needs more content, and is supposedly doing that. PvP has obvious flaws, and changes to weapons are being made to accommodate that as well.

"Do all of the above but faster" is basically the most valid suggestion I could make to the developers. Of course it isn't that easy either so perhaps a better thing to tell them would be something like "make a level editor and put events into the player's hands, so that there isn't so much of a demand for new content 24/7". Latisan Sklay's Charity Water event is a good example of this- it used up some time and gave me something to look forward to. I liked it. Skepticraven's fastest vanguard challenge is another one, as are all of the art contests. These give us some good excuses for things to do.

Lets say there was a new feature added for events-- player events. For a sum of money or energy (5 bucks worth of energy or so), players should be able to broadcast approved messages to all players and host an event. This would re-purpose the "event hud" into something of a calendar for player run events. The GMs would view these requests, and accept most of them, as well as organize them on the calendar and back them with prizes on occasion, just as they currently do. Then all of the players would be alerted to them, and drawn in.

This, combined with player generated content, are what the game needs above all else. Rather than selling "some generic redone MMO", it would be far better to sell to the intended crowd- What we have is Spiral Knights, the first player generated MMO. Redone from what it was before with reformed influence from our past ideas, it is twice the game it was before.

In one year from now, imagine this:
-New boss/new content that will come out in the next few months; i.e. "The Gunner Update"
-Redone weapons for bombs/swords
-Level editor + community events
-Arcade redux = ability to build gates however you want.

Would that be worth the wait? It's already been 10 months and we're all still here. Warframe might have had more new content from the developers, nicer feeling events and more balanced gear, but we'd have unlimited content and a strong, well organized community. That's what I want to see happen to "save spiral knights" anyway... and once that's done, THEN we can talk about marketing.

Written 10 months ago, and by a member of staff that has since left.

I know pessimism brings nothing but when it takes months to release what I believe will be a gun reskin pack with possibly new armour that's been duplicated with different stats, it's safe to assume the arcade redux will arrive when it's ready.

I want to see what they will accomplish the next year, if it's only promos like this year... I can only imagine how many of us would leave

"what I believe will be"

You have already decided in your mind that you won't like or enjoy the update/change even when it comes out.

Oh no I was just pointing out how, from what I've heard, many people think it shouldn't be taking so long to create the update. Of course I'll like and enjoy the update because we haven't had a permanent content update for quite a while, and I love guns.

The point I was trying to put across was, the forums are full of pessimism, but what else is there to talk about? People have "Generally Discussed" anything and everything to do with SK for months, but with no content and people watching players leave, people want to share their insights and opinions on what could happen to the game, whilst development is slow.

Wat even

This is the 50th complaint thread. How about this, if they decided to release new content, they could delay it just to spite you. Because all you guys do is complain on GD threads about how bad this game is.

Your browser didn't send a complete request in time.

But you can be sure that we get the current promo with a different color. At least something, huh?

Here, have some sarcasm.

Next time you're working on something go tell people to yell at you to change things. That will surely make you do things better, faster, and with minimal errors.

The game is going to stay alive as long as the players fund it. As long as it's alive, it will progress. If you want to help Three Rings, spend money on the game or advertise it to friends. If you want to influence the change, post your ideas to the suggestion board. It's that simple. Rallying up the general discussion won't do anything.

Most of what you listed, Dragonuity, is what players have been saying, or what the game already has. The bridge between the players and the developers are the Community Managers, and occasionally Game Masters. Stopping promos won't make content happen any faster either, unless an item with entirely new gameplay mechanics is introduced for a promo(which would create a huge uproar from the non-paying players).
Spiral Knights has potential, yes. But it appears that the potential that many players see and what the developers and storywriters see is very often different.

and again...

all suggestion above seem not too far from what we all know "money"
and yep money is needed to even make new content, because they need to pay their worker for coding, art and etc.
but it seem to be in crisis now (dunno) even they have lot money from player or sega.. they better spend it to make more stable server which can stand outside of US and advertise their game again because sk is hidden rather than use it to hire more people to make new content which only extend some veteran lifespan (sure you guys will see lot of people complain or want to get new content, because almost all forumer here are endgame or those who already have much much stuff.. but you want the best thing for sk or temporary fun ingame?). but why we need better server? to prevent new player from leaving game (this is important before advertise, or it will just a waste because they not join the game), it can help to make people not to separate ways (this is what happen to our current us and eu server, this guy want vana in us server, other guy want vana in eu.. then they fight --a) there still lot of thing i want to say but im tired to write it, so the last thing i can say.. if you love this game, do not complain.. better do more important thing like inviting people to play this game or advertise it to your blog or guide new people so they can understand this game. talk less do more~

No-Thanks
there is no such crisis

people get paid for work
imagine an entire team sitting in front of computers adding things to an already existing game freaking 8 hours a day, the content would be rolling out all the time
after having made yohoho puzzle pirates AND having maintained sk for..3years! i expect them to know how to make money
now whether they plan any grand updates or not, i wonder..but at some point u just have to be reasonable and ask yourself..what does the staff actually do during work?

after a few months of seeing the on off button for a few events being triggered every now and then, i reached that point

it doesnt really change anything, i still play ld only and hardly any pve, but..complaints of the sk community have suddenly become..reasonable

By reasonable, you mean more openly voiced over the forums?

No-Thanks
errm

people are openly voiced on the forums all the time and so am i, albeit sometimes a bit too much of that..

what i actually mean is, that i always sort of defended the staff for being slow on content updates
i had tryed to make a game from scratch via gamemaker, sucked at art, couldnt take anything copyrighted and could feel, that such work takes time

more recently i played minetest, played with mods, modified those and the game itself without any lua experience and it wasnt that hard to come up with completely game breaking or game refining mechanics in that case just in 2 days and only using the work of others (which could be done within sk)

ive also heard of (good) games being made from scratch at record speed by developers who werent great in numbers

based on that experience and having watched this game being updated in the past 3 years, i do not believe anymore, that any of the possible reasons, that people come up with to justify the content update delays, are reasonable

thats about it..complaints become reasonable
u know..people complain about everything, just because they prefer to communicate the stuff out of their heads rather than thinking about it, which creates a bad impression of those people
but that isnt the case anymore
more and more people seem to know very well, what theyre talking about and i can somewhat relate to it
and even if they dont..as long as i can rely on the fact, that the staff has been keeping their game alive this whole time, i do not have to worry about any financial disaster and seeing all these threads screaming for updates, now i just agree to most of it
