I played Spiral Knights a long time ago, and quit for a long time and came back in June. There were so many things that had been added while i was away. One of the things that were added that I disliked were the Fire crystals. I don't want to have them removed, but I thought there should be a certain item that leveled items up instantly. There could be different versions of it, that leveled up items depending on what level they are, a 1* version could level up an item 1 level, 2* 2 levels, 3* 3 levels, 4* 4 levels, and 5* 5 levels. Or it could be like an item that leveled up an item only 1 level, and you would need a certain version depending on how many stars your item has. Also, Here are some ideas of what the item would be called: Magma crystal, Magma Orb, Fire Orb, or Heat Orb.

Leave it to returning players to have a fresh insight.
Having there be an item that completely levels up an item always would be a great alternative to fire crystals. We could even keep the current energy prices for 50 fire crystals and instead have it be an item that would act like a 100% level up. This would make P2P players able to keep up with the old elevator pass - maybe you could buy a monthly radar of such that would allow you to find these items as rarities in the clockworks since we have instanced loot.
We could even have such an item drop in the clockworks at about a rate that is twice as rare as an orb of alchemy.
