Allow us to choose which UV's we want to gamble with.

I've made this suggestion before, but here goes again.

Current Method: ~10% crafting chance at a free random UV or 20K crowns at single, random UV we are unable to choose.

It's a crown sink, that's for sure. But for 20K crowns at a random UV we can't choose, where's the incentive to gamble?
If you wanted to have a Defense Max or Status max of your choice, the probability is still a toss up between all the other garbage uv's you don't want.

I can't testify for everyone, but when you roll 2Mil in crowns on a sword or armor, and not even get the singular UV type you want, let alone the strength you want, what do they expect us to do? Spend our time and money on another "Maybe I'll get it this next time..."
It's not fair for players and it's certainly not fair for P2P's who want to customize.
"But Paintool, this will turn the UV market in on it's head! My Triple Max PVP Lockdown Skolver/ Black Kat Set was worth 200KE!"

You can keep your OP armors and OP sets. But don't leave Plate, Jelly, Skelly, or whatever other unused armor in the game in the dust.
Every armor should have an equal chance, because it would be fun to run around in game where TRUE CUSTOMIZATION has a foreseeable future that any player can at least attempt to grasp.

Proposed Method:

In order to keep those PVP's wallets from crying too any tears, there needs to be some drawbacks to having pure selection for guaranteed UV's that each player wants.

We can:
A.) Make the price of select UV's more expensive.
B.) Keep the same prices for the UV rolling system, but make the odds harder to get higher strengths.
C.) Do both A and B

This will allow for an even greater crown sink and give players a greater inner locus of control.
Not only will people be spending more for "what they think as having a better chance" but they will feel better about doing so.
If you wanted a Poison/Fire Max Ancient Plate Armor, you can "TRY" to make that now. It will still cost you, but you still have to go through the system of random chances. If you wanted to cancel out fire resist on your Valk Set, then by all means go ahead and try.

P.S.

If you wanted to, you could release the select U.V.'s as Select UV tickets in promo boxes, which in theory, should make UV tickets that more desirable and shiny to players. Who wants to buy a random chance at a random something with old tickets?
Who would much rather pay to get a guaranteed roll at a fire or CTR UV?

We can compare the old system to the Mist Energy days, where the price of failure is waiting.
We need to step it up to the current system where we can at least see what we're supposed to accomplish.

But it is best for them to keep you rolling useless UVS that you don't want over and over again until by some sort of crazy coincidence or divine favor of the gods you land on the one you want, and hopefully you get it to be somewhere above mid at least.

Because the RNG is the best way to go, always.

ARE YOU READY FOR THE MIRACLE??!!!

I won't be Ready to Go until

I won't be Ready to Go until I have a Poison Max Volcanic Plate Helm.~

But let's look at this way:

Let's say OOO really loves the current system of TOTAL RNG CHAOS and people buy into it. We don't know the figures of how man people are rolling, and we know 20K is semi cakewalk for endgame players. New players barely hang onto any crowns.
So once you reach endgame what's one thing you have a lot of? Crowns.

But what if I told you that the system would be raking in more crowns if people actually wanted to roll UV's?
Suddenly you don't have to pay 300K or more for some rare once in a lifetime oddity; you don't have to go looking on the forums for an item you've never seen or existed; you don't have to wait. That poison max UV is just the carrot on the stick dangled in front of your face ever so slightly closer.

That's why the odds need to be skewed a little more. You're only just a little close to getting those bigger UV's, but not really.
Worst comes to worse, at least you'll come out with a "Low" of the desired UV you wanted... but you'll be back... because you have to if you ever want to see your perfect helm ever again.

I'm vohtarak, call me by that name

this would be helpful
I remember trying a poison med on my mask
literally this happened
stun low
curse low
stun low
curse low
and then began to
pierce low
normal low
etc
I would pay a lot to get what I want, mainly because punch thinks swapping back and forth is reasonable

I guess as long as the costs to craft a variant are a magnitude higher than the cost to craft that same variant randomly, as if all other UVs were worth nothing?

That would be the only way to balance this, as you'd still want players to craft random UVs most of the time and you wouldn't want to hurt the incredible crown sink. Those random UVs are placed on the auction house allowing for trade, and are often not what you wanted but still pretty incredible- like getting fire max instead of shock max, or CTR instead of ASI. Gambling itself is a positive thing from a getting them to spend standpoint, as it allows for more players to become gambling adicts. With this, you could just save up and buy the variant that you wanted, no gambling or excess involved.

Yes and no

We should keep the current system in place, but add onto it. People will want certain UVs, and we shouldn't make them too rare but at the same time not make everyone have max power gear. Gears ceases to be "unique" when everyone goes for MAX/VH UVs.
So I would recommend any sort of UV that is applied by these methods to max out at "High". This means you will never have a poison max UV on something unless you roll for it, or an ASI VH on something unless you roll for it. At the same time, it allows customization, like undoing status vulnerabilities mostly.

High tier UVs should be sought, not a given. I do like the idea of having players be able to specify what UV they're looking for, but it shouldn't ever be an on-demand thing. I remember a UV Auction suggestion from a while back, and I said something similar there - keep the higher tier limited to RNG, and have the prices go up with the strength and UV type. There would be a max/VH every day, but it might not be what you're looking for. In the end, you might spend 2 million crowns in a bid war with someone else who wants that ASI: VH, but that's 2 million crowns you're spending, not gambling. In the same sense, you might get that UV with that money, or even for less. UV Auctions would be from the game, and players could sell these tickets on the (Player) Auction House after they are acquired.
I also threw around the idea of hourly auctions, so that players wouldn't feel like they had to stay in a bid-war for 24 hours. Perhaps have the time have variation to prevent bid "sniping". (I.E., instead of a set 5 minutes for very short, very short could be 1 minute to 10 minutes)
