Ever get annoyed of running the FSC levels and picking up the sprites only to have to drop them to destroy a meaningless obstruction?
Bring out the "BOP" update!
Allow players to smack things with whatever they're holding for a very small amount of damage (it'd be pretty fun to kill monsters while doing this, or even players in LD). This would help bombers breaking things by having them smack boxes/minerals/other obstructions or even low-health monsters.
I really think as a bomb/sword user that it's annoying when I accidentally pick up a bomb for a second and then it slows down everything I'm doing (except to joke around and make it look like I'm smoking). I also can't imagine how bothersome it would be as a bomber to charge 3 bombs for a mineral. Plus when I'm holding something (ex: statue) and I just need to break something, or shield bump a monster out of the way I can't without dropping it. This would be great in those situations, and really isn't going to break the game.
I would also love to bop monsters that are acting silly (like the mating slags).
Why not add a new type of special shield? Like, one with a large spike on the front that deals very little damage but deals some when you walk into things while shielding? Could also have a much higher-damage shield bash. You could just walk into a mineral or a rock while shielding and break them.
I don't think we should be able to attack while holding a sprite/key/vial. I do, however, think that if we press a vial key after pulling one out that we should be able to put it away or drop it on the ground for ourselves.
