Kataclysmic Confrontation Loadouts

I'm currently considering working on a couple loadouts for when the event arises. Basically, I'll be going grindhard in Kat maps in search of Ancient Pages and a Book of Dark Rituals.

Anyway, I'll be listing multiple loadouts here. One set will be for Kat-Fighting, one will be specifically for fighting Margrel. For short, I'll be calling the event Katfrontation when necessary.

It should be important to say that the Kat-Fighting Set is typically going to be used for solo'ing, while the Margrel set is for playing with others.

Please note that normal, poison, and freeze kats are the most common. Curse will be on most armors I list, though.

Kat-Fighting Set (General purpose, if you wish to call it that.)

Divine Avenger, Glacius, Rocket Hammer
Overcharged Mixmaster, Omega Tortofist, Storm Driver
Deadly Crystal Bomb, Scintillating Sun Shard, Stagger Storm
Blitz Needle, Volcanic Pepperbox, Iron Slug

Armor/Helmet: Deadshot/Dread Skelly mix (Shield: Curse Max Dread Skelly)

Margrel Set

Fang of Vog*, Leviathan Blade, Celestial Saber, Cold Iron Vanquisher
Arcana, Argent Peacemaker, Blitz Needle
Divine Avenger, Omega Tortofist**, Glacius/Voltedge/Combuster
Stagger Storm, Voltaic Tempest, Scintillating Sun Shards

If you have any idea for gear I don't have listed, please do note them if you think they will be effective against kats.

Choose what loadout you think would be best out of the weapons I listed!

*I don't care if I catch fire from the Fang of Vog. Remedy Capsules? What are those? There clearly isn't a pickup vendor on Moorcroft.

**Margrel has a relatively wide hitbox (as you would expect), so it would fly into every shard on the ground.

Blitz is probably great

Blitz is probably great single target damage to kill the Kat before it gets too spawn-happy. I'm personally leaning toward iron slug to snipe the Kat inside it's cursed skelly cover.

I like AP for breaking blocks, and hammer as a multi tool for killing and speeding through the levels.

I was considering Argent Peace, but it's incredibly boring.

Aside from that, if I'm using the Blitz why WOULD I need an AP?

Still, I'll probably include it as one of my Margrel considerations.

Hammer makes sense. I'm adding it.

It'd make sense to note I'll mainly be replaying Scarlet Fortress - Spiral Court. (Sometimes the full level set.)
Of course, I'd still want things specialized in Black Kat smashing. However, the event missions are not replayable, just to mention that Black Kats won't be a extremely common opponent.
I think the Stagger Storm would make a lot of sense, controlling Kats on screen and Carnavons alike.

(If I were to bring the Rocket Hammer, I'd want to have another melee in handy as well.)

you can add weapons now?

Are we supposed to tell you which weapons to use, from the list that you gave in the original post? Or are we allowed to randomly add any weapon we want?

I'd recommend a touch of shock. Kats are stupidly weak to shock*. Voltedge, Storm Driver, and Voltaic Tempest come to mind.

Hmm.

I do have Storm Driver on the first loadout*.

I'm generally asking on how people think of the weapons I listed, and which would do best. However, I'm also looking to see if anybody can find any more interesting weapons for the subject of kats.

Due to zombie shield stopping the explosion bursts, glacius would be the worst choice for brandish, while combuster would be the best, as it keep pushing them. Also because of zombie shield, alchemer is one of the slow weapons because you could only handle 1 front layer of zombie at a time.
It's hard to optimize Divine Avenger damage without interruption like shock or stun, as black kat moves around too much, but good for killing zombies. Using omega tortofist is also too hard to aim. You won't have time to aim correctly with margrel attack and dive behavior.
Iron Slug works great if you can push the monster to the wall (or on the right direction at least). All shard bombs is too annoying to master due to invicitinks. (null damage after few hits) Stagger storm works well, but I think voltaic tempest is better. Because shock spasm just stops kats attack.
Of all autoguns, blitz needle works best. Curse resistance is irrelevant (only on black kats, not margrel boss) if you can maintain emergency revive before meeting black kats, hence offensive armor is also an option.
Battle sprite skills, like maskeraith's cloak (huge plus with deadly) and drakon's backfire barrier is essential for speed running. I think spike walking (seraph shield aura) is overrated, you could just hurt yourself once to past the spikes, if you are confident with health.
Can't comment on mixmaster since I never use one.
Leviathan-alike blades are most likely low damage compared to any elemental swords, unless you can aim the charge correctly every single time. Any blaster type guns is low damage for clockworks, compared to any other weapons.

A question though, which freeze candlesticks do you go?

responding the AP vs Blitz option, I emphasize what para said, AP you could shoot while moving, and it'll shorter the duration of breaking blocks, not for damage.

that's cute OP, but

Margrel can be killed in 5 seconds after it spawned:

1, Summon Margrel.
2, Use deadly shadow cloak.
3, Go to the middle of Moorcraft, (at the elevator where u appear if you start on d8) and wait there - that will be the first place it reappears.
4, Unleash a flash charged blitz on it (more if other players have it as well).
5, Profit.

@Neometal

That can't possibly be true.
How much health does margrel have?

Given that Margrel largely relies on a shield and generally being a pain in the something to fight, it sounds pretty possible. Blitz flash charges are pretty darn strong.

Nobody actually records health. Most people aren't in the mood to endlessly spam Catalyzer normal shots to get the exact number down on every tier of that monster.

Even though the Blitz is strong, a charged Grim Repeater on JK is just enough to take out one stage. I can imagine Margel would be much more a bullet sponge than JK, especially since the Grim Repeater is effective against slimes and piercing not vs undead.

Although, I suppose the shield is really what makes Margel such a pain. It's worth testing when the Book of Dark Rituals is more openly available. I would be knowing if you had really done this, or simply made that up on the assumption that charged Blitz shots are OP.

@ Ellthan-Cosmolion

Haha, you must be new here. :D

But seriously: just flash charge Margrel w/ blitz. Fight over in 5 secs. It even works on elite dif, but since there is no point on making the monsters have more hp (the drops being the same every time) ppl tend to do the summoning on easy.
If you don't belive me, feel free to invite me to a fight and I'll demonstrate. :P

One stage, you say?
