What equipment should I take to 5* first?

I'm a (mostly) pure gunner, and currently I have the equips mega magnus, mega tundrus, needle shot, prismatech alchemer mkii, iceburst brandish, freezing atomizer, chaos cowl, miracle cloak, and wise owlite shield.
Chaos cowl is out of the question, since I already have it.
I don't like swords, and I really don't like my alchemer.
I'm not much of a bomber, so that's a no to freezing atomizer.
So I'm left with mega magnus(I'm getting iron slug), mega tundrus, needle shot, wise owlite shield, and miracle cloak(I'm getting chaos cloak).
Which one do you forum posters think I should upgrade first?

Out of those choices, Chaos

Out of those choices, Chaos Cloak, presuming you're ok with doubling your status vulnerability.

Wait to upgrade most weapons until you have 3-400 radiant crystals available so you can quickly take it to level 7, where it will start to outdamage the 4 star level 10 version.

Exceptions can be made in the case of the Iron Slug, since you may really not want the piercing damage of the Mega Magnus. Major conversions like that are the only really good reason to take a weapon to 5 stars before you have a good supply of radiants.

mostly agree

The key things to know are:

* As Kalistes pointed out, weapons need to be heated to roughly heat level 7, before they exceed their 4-star damage. In contrast, armor benefits just a little bit from heat (a tiny amount of damage protection, and one health point at heat level 5). So if Radiant Fire Crystals are your bottleneck, as they are for many players, then upgrade your armor before your weapons, but don't heat it.

* Alchemers are weak in the hands of a novice but strong in the hands of an expert. Basically, the ricochets let you double your damage output, if you know how to use them. See my brief tutorial.

* The freeze on Tundrus/Winter Grave sometimes stops the charge attack. Iron Slug (and Callahan) doesn't have this problem. I'm not convinced that Winter Grave charges do more damage to shadow-vulnerable monsters than Iron Slug charges do.

So in the end you should probably upgrade your suit to Chaos Cloak (or one of the more defensive branches, if you prefer). Don't heat it any time soon. Once you have enough Radiants, get your Iron Slug and heat it as fast as possible. Stop upgrading your Tundrus entirely. Upgrade your Needle Shot to Blitz Needle and heat it. Then try out other styles of weapons. Don't be surprised if you come back to alchemers eventually.

I'd heat armor to 5, for the extra pip of health. It doesn't take very many radiants to get to 5.

I guess I'll go with that, getting chaos cloak, iron slug, and blitz needle in that order.
I'm going to get an elemental weapon though. Currently I'm taking in consideration Nova Driver, Arcana, and wildfire, but I'm not sure which one to get.

elemental gun

Nova Driver, Arcana, and wildfire

Arcana is blaster-style. It's reliable, and the knockback on every shot is a little interesting, but otherwise it is completely boring: no massive damage, no interesting play style, etc.

Wildfire is pulsar-style. Its knockback is its main feature. It lets you shape crowds and suppress enemies. But knockback often pushes monsters out of range, and the gun doesn't do a huge amount of damage in the first place.

Nova Driver is alchemer-style. Alchemers are not great until 5 stars, when they become much better. Alchemers are also weak if you don't know how to land the ricochets, but very strong if you do. So they have a steep learning curve. In my opinion, they are one of the best-designed weapons in the game. They reward skillful play with lots of damage. Storm Driver is also great --- slightly less damage for a useful status that does some damage itself.

I would recommend an alchemer if you want to kill things and enjoy playing well, or a pulsar if you want a utility weapon for controlling crowds.

Agree here with Boop. You already have two high-dps weapons listed up. Go alchemer to complete the triumvirate of pure DPS, or wildfire as a nice little support/supression gun.

Any of the blasters is fine, and Chaos set is a staple with almost every playstyle. Shields are eh, but that's just a personal preference.

I personally would take the time to figure out how to use alchemers, they are really fun to use from 4* onwardds. but if not definitely go for the suggestions above
