Divine Mantle/Veil and Volcanic Plate Shield

So, two questions about this set.
1. Does it in fact have bonus damage against fiends?
The wiki states it does on the veil, but doesn't have that information on the mantle.
2. Volcanic Plate Shield. Everyone always tells me it's the best shield to get.
However, it gives fire resistance. Wouldn't this set already give me maximum fire resistance, making the shield's fire resistance useless?

As far as the divine mantle
As far as the divine mantle not having damage bonus vs fiend, while divine veil having it, this matches the in-game recipe descriptions. I don't have an actual divine mantle armor to double check, but I would be shocked if the recipe was wrong.
Why there is this difference, I have no idea. It isn't the only example of helmet/armor being different in the same set.
I'm sure the helm does, but it's got no normal defense, just a reminder.
shield and armor are separate, the resistance of the shield or any stat of the shield, for that matter, only applies when the shield is blocking.
