Advice on current gear and planned future gear
Hi everyone, I know it's another one of these threads but I would really appreciate some advice, thanks.
My current 3* equipment consists of:
-Dusker Cap/Coat: (Wanted to go for Skolver set because I thought it looked pretty neat but on second thoughts, I'll go with the typical Vog Cub in plans of entering FSC later on)
-Striker: (I started off with the Cutter which led to the Striker and yes I have my regrets for not picking the Calibur but hey, the Cutter series has its perks. Thus I'm planning to go all the way to the Dread Venom Striker)
-Twisted Targe shield (Was going to go Owlite for better status defense but most of my friends have it so I'm going with the Barbarous Thorn)
-Cryotech Alchemer Mk II (Should I go all the way with this for the Hail Driver or save up jelly gems for Antigua -> Argent Peacemaker for future use in FSC against Lord Vanaduke?)
Also wanted Gran Faust but seeing as I'm going for a Dread Venom Striker which will be nice for JK runs I've changed mind to grab a DA instead as my future primary weapon.
Please fire away with your suggestions, thank you!
Shield - either direction works... Grey Owlite Shield is better for defense and Barbarous Thorn Shield is better for offense. Both are great choices.
Gun - Alchemer is actually more versatile since you can use it in FSC and elsewhere. People rarely use their AP outside FSC. It is always nice to have someone with a 5* Alchemer in the party since shock and freeze both affect Vanaduke too. Usually shock is preferred over freeze since the gun tends to break its own ice. Freeze can be better for kiting though.
Sword - I've used a Vile Striker and a Dread Venom Striker... it really isn't that useful except for attacking the Jelly King. It is difficult to attack/shield because each attack only does a bit of damage. The knockback is slight, leaving you open to retaliation if you don't dodge or shield. The cutter series works well enough in T1 and even T2, but the lack of knockback can get you killed quickly in T3. It is a great sword for lumbers and gun puppies since they don't move much and it has high DPS, but if you have a DA might as well use that instead since it does high damage to constructs. Also note that the DVS does marginally more damage than the Vile Striker, rather sad for the cost.
If you get a Gran Faust to compliment your DA then you should be in better shape for T3. For quite a while I was running with Khorovod and a Vile Striker, so I had a slow sword with lots of knockback and a fast sword with no knockback - kept me in good shape until I could get a DA and an Acheron.
