hi,
in the wiki is written:

"Unique variant bonus amounts are described by ability ratings, whether or not the stat is displayed by a bar. On armors, the boosts can go up to a Maximum! (6) rating, although Ultra (5) cannot be obtained. For weapons, boosts can go up to a Very High (4) rating."

"Ability boosts are additive: two Lows will equal Medium, and one Medium and High will combine to Ultra. Boosts appear to cap at 6 (Maximum!). On armors, the boosts can go up to a Maximum! (6) rating, although Ultra (5) cannot be obtained. For weapons, boosts can go up to a Very High (4) rating. "

i am confused by the "For weapons, boosts can go up to a Very High (4) rating."
what does it mean, the weapon can only get +4 while crafting?

thanks

I'm pretty sure you've got

I'm pretty sure you've got it, that the strongest boost a weapon can have is very high, or +4 but it'd also mean that no matter what, it can only go up to +4. Lets say I'm wearing the Skolver set. Both the armor and the helmet give me a medium attack bonus, or +2 which means in total I get +4 to my damage. Now the Barborous Thorn Shield also gives a +2 to my sword's attack but since the weapon boost only goes up to very High and its already there, the Barbarous Thorn Shield's boost is ignored.

If I could read that it'd

If I could read that it'd help so much. First off there's a chance that thats old and they may have nerfed the boosting system since then. Heck you can still find some random 4 and 5* items on the AH. Or maybe its possible that only a specific boost can reach up to +4 like for instance, what I said above where all of the boosts are Sword Attack Increase. But maybe if you were to do something such as having a Volcanic Salamander set and a Barbarous Thorn Shield it'd be diefferent. The Salamander items provide medium attack increase against Slime monsters while the Thorn Shield gives a Medium sword attack bonus thus you're increases may become:

Sword Damage Increase: Medium
Sword Damage Increase against Slime: Maximum
Gun Damage Increase against Slime: Very High
Bomb Damage Increase against Slime: Very High

When the wiki talks about the

Edit: NOt sure if what i wrote was correct.... deleted, so as not to mislead.

Edit:
My understanding was that the highest UV you could see on a weapon was Very HIgh, but with armor and the like you could in fact hit maximum. And by the look of the photo above, it says Damage bonus to BEasts MAximum, so im inclined to think that that is correct.

Here's a quote from Weberto

Here's a quote from Weberto in another topic which shows that Yonfire is correct.

"Actually you can use full skolver + barbarous thorn shield to get maximum damage on swords, the wiki refers to UVs, you can't have a sword UV beyond very high, but you can combine multiples UVs+Properties to get Max damage.

while using the full skolver + barb shield, at least for gun puppies and spookats (and using a fully leveled up Divine Avenger) I can kill them with 2 hits (on the latest floors I need to use the full combo as 2 first hits won't kill the spookats, but I think that's on the last 2 floors only), using a single charge attack should be able to kill them I think, but I haven't tested the charge attack"

EDIT: Looking at the photo, I don't think it makes any sense. I'm pretty sure the sword we're looking it is a Wild Hunting Blade which gets +3 (High) against Beasts but it shouldn't have one of the other boosts on it. The first one is charge time reduction, thats normal for level 10 but the second one is damage bonus? The fact that its blue makes no sense as UV's are shown in yellow.

It most likely from hovering

It most likely from hovering over the sword at the bottum of the Character page. I.E.
Vog/Skul Coat
Vog/Skul Cap
Wild Hunting Blade

it would read
CTR: High
Sword Damage Bonus: High (from 2 skulver or vog pieces?)
and Then sword damage bonus against beasts (wich would technicaly be +7(hunting blade +3) but caps out at +6): Maximum

ah this is the thread Yes I

ah this is the thread

Yes I can confirm that with Skolver Cap + Skolver Coat + Barbarous Thorn Shield all my swords have Bonus Damage: Maximum!

If I switch the Skolver Coat for a Radiant Silvermail, then I get Bonus Damage vs Undead: Maximum! while having Bonus Damage: Very High for everything else (on swords, for guns & bombs I have medium damage to undead)

this frustrates me a bit, since this equipment basically transforms a CIV into a crappy Leviathan Blade (less damage and apparently less knock back on charge attack)

.

That wiki article is clearly confusing.

The range for a UV on a weapon is Low (1) - Very High (4). But your weapon's total damage boost can actually go all the way to maximum if you have a weapon damage bonus from elsewhere.

Thus you can get a Calibur UV Very High Damage to Slimes, then wear a Skolver Cap with its Sword Damage Bonus Medium (2). Your resulting damage bonuses would be:

Calibur
Damage to Slimes: Maximum (6)
Damage Bonus to everything else: Medium (2)
