Eventually we'll be able to open the core, and in our attempt to harness it's power, we'll be teleported to a strange world full of Gremlins.

From there on, knights will fight the Crimson Order and eventually reach King Tinkinzar. After defeating him, the knights will find a strange generator room with advanced teleportation devices (Which explains why there are so many gremlins in the clockworks, and how the Spiral Order has never been able to find King Tinkinzar or the Crimson Order). The knights will "salvage" some of the technology at the generator room (A new artifact) and return to Haven. Eventually, the Spiral Order will have mastery over the strange powers of the core, and be able to repair the Skylark (In a future update). When the Skylark is repaired, knights will have access to it and will be able to explore all new worlds, including the gremlin homeworld.

After fighting King Tinkinzar, you will obtain some Gremlin Sigils, which you can use to obtain the all new and all-powerful Golden Star Gear. This gear is basically the "six star" gear of Spiral Knights, and instead of 5 stars, there will be one big golden star next to it. The merchant that sells you these mythical items is at the generator room after the big battle with King Tinkinzar.

And then we'll be able to meet the leader of the Spiral Order on the Skylark. Meanwhile, the developers and admins will be conducting science and wizardry.

how about they find/salvage the technology to advance near all current gear beyond 5* instead

i think Tinkinzar is really Boswick in disguise

That's exactly what the Crimson Order will have. Advanced weapons and gear that match the best of any Spiral Knight's gear. They ARE supposed to be feared and powerful. Unless you're talking about OUR items?

A little off-topic here, but who is this "Boswick" person I keep hearing about? Is he the fearsome leader and handsome genius behind Spiral Knights?

If you ask around the Strangers they think that Cradle is far too advanced to have been build by the Gremlins. While King Tinkinzar may be mighty, I think he will share a spot along side Vanaduke as a penultimate boss character.

The Core is something unreal that can't be anticipated. Think, Alpha Squad made it though the Throne Room with Vanaduke, but nothing in their training has allowed them to escape whatever occurred at the Core.

Idk why you necroed a 2 year old thread just to say that, but ok then...

just to make sure future posters know this, the core will never open. If it did, that would mean the end of the game since there could no longer be any logical story after that without adding irrelevant content, among other reasons.

Actually the story could continue like... this:
The spiral order had finally finished off the army of those who lived within Cradle in their one final stand against us putting any issues they have for one another as races to fight us but even then they failed. The core's power is now ours.
Core opens, the swarm is freed, it begins to feed off those we all slaughtered to reach it, it becomes super strong, we fight swarm armies of the now dead, this includes strangers AND owlite scolars.
We get a final message from our home planet that tells us the terrible news that it has lost the war and has been taken. This leaves us with only Cradle to live on. Corrupted, wasted, blood stained Cradle to live on. Now it becomes a clean up game where we try to make peace with those who did not die in the final war for the core and fighting off the swarm. This could allow game play to make sense as a gremlin, devilite, slime, Snarbolan (think anthro, knight sized snarbolax that is basically the playable characters for wolvers.), and constructions as now we would all be fighting off the swarm instead everything else vs us BUT still allow enemies from before to fight us out of grief/hate for what we caused.
