It could be the reoccurring glitch that pops up every now and then. Do another FSC run and see if it happens again.

It traces back to some odd behavior that creates a memory leak in the JVM heap, and usually lasts until you close the game.

I get this too, I think it's a memory leak. To best avoid this problem you should restart your game(and get an invite, if with other players) at every terminal you come across(after getting recipes, though not sure if you can't buy them when you come back). If you're playing solo just buy the recipes and kill the javaw.exe process with task manager - that should bring you back to the terminal(no guarantees though, but it works for me). Also having your graphics turned all the way down(Low graphics, Vsync on if you get 60+ fps all the time, Compatibility Mode on and Render Effects off) will help prevent these memory leaks.
