Been playing this for a few days now and kinda understand the system thats inplace with the receipts. You need the lower level receipts as ingredients for higher receipts. So that left me wondering ... what is the right gear to get ? I have seen so many sets up till now and got no idea what to get. Should i be playing with a fire sword and ice gun with shadow def armor or ? Play with only guns, poison and shadow ? Or maybe a bomb and a gun and most importantly why should i play this way ? What are the real advantages to play with a certain set ?

I have a shield which has full def against poison and freeze but still get frozen quite allot O.o ? How do the stats work and what sets are good ?

Thanks in advance for any awnsers :).

If I remember correctly: it

If I remember correctly: it only really effects how long the effect lasts.
Mixing armors and sheilds are good so that you balance out, weaponry? Just stick with what you like to use. I'm a fan of sword (fast ones!) and guns, however bombs and swords as well as bombs and guns are effective weaponry. Lower levels of the weaponry usually acts similar to the upgrades (like the Pepperbox fires the same way as the Autogun).

If you like guns and fire, and don't mind being a bit slower, I do suggest working up the autogun-pepperbox tree (it sets things on fire!)
For swords: the calibur is very versitile, different types of upgrades can be found. If you want quick I suggest building up the Cutter tree (the spur tree works slightly different but is also a good tree)
The advantage of bombs is that you can set them behind you so that your enemy trips them. Swords give you the in-close-and-personal, while guns give you distance attacks. I suggests always having a gun-- or get a sword with a burst type charge attack (like the magic wand) so that you can hit things at a distance-- guns are great when dealing with GunPuppies but for mecha knights? they don't work since the mecha knights have sheilds.

Could be totally wrong but...

...I got the impression that your shield stats only came into play if you had your shield up. But I've been playing even less time than you, so that's just from what I've read.

If you mouseover the icons at

If you mouseover the icons at the bottom of your character, you can see the cumulative effect of all your armor. If you swap shields, you'll see it doesn't change at all. So yeah, it's kind of counterintuitive, but shield defense bars only tell you how well your shield soaks damage or prevents status effects when it's up.

Personally, I like the owlite shield for its ability to soak up the elemental damage of rocket hits
