I think energy_free elevators are a good idea because once you run out of energy your basically done playing for the day. However, If you put energy-free elevators, dedicated players could keep on playing.

I'm assuming this is going to

I'm assuming this is going to be one of those "no reward" or "practice levels" that keep getting suggested... both of which aren't really beneficial to the game as a whole.

I was thinking it would kind of be a gamble. You would gain crowns if you win, and you would lose crowns if you would lose crowns if you lose. Maddader, your question doesn't really relate to the topic, but i'll answer it anyway. Buying crystal energy is sort of a backup energy that allows you to keep on playing if you run out of mist energy.

...

So... you don't get items for playing in the energy-free elevators at all? If this is true, it seems a tad fair... but open to debate.

But what would be a win

But what would be a win condition? Frankly, its not difficult beat a lot of these levels without dying, unless its a double danger room arena level.

while playing these

while playing these energy-less levels you don't recover any energy. that seems like a fair way to go

"You would gain crowns if you

"You would gain crowns if you win, and you would lose crowns if you would lose crowns if you lose."
So it's basicaly like a elevator that runs on crowns. Example, you pay 1k to get in, if you win you are rewarded 2k. So winning profits 1k, losing profits negative 1k. that SOUNDS fair, but it would do all sorts of nasty to the system. I'm not going to bother explaining how for the millionth time, and when I write a large essay no one reads it anyhow.

just saying...

"once you run out of energy your basically done playing for the day"
You can:
1)buy more energy
2)trade stuff and get some profit that eventually could lead to point 1
3)PVP--> 3.1 Bomberman/ 3.2 Lockdown
4)find a friend that pays elevator
5) hang out and chat with someone
6)try random stuff at training hall

But what if your broke, all

But what if your broke, all items are bonded, just started so you don't have any friends, and tried random stuff at the training hall for ages all ready? And Jonanish, you earn crowns, which can pay for energy. That is a fair way to go. Starlinvf, you obviously haven't played for very long. Heavy-Duty, your the best trustable person, so do me a favor and answer some of the questions.

I've been playing since the

I've been playing since the game came to steam, bought CE, got my 5* and spend almost as much time on the forum as I do the game. Once you grasp the concept of CE as a currency instead of a resource, the game's methodology is a lot easier to understand. When you boil it down, everything is driven by money management. From elevators, to crafting, to trading, even special items, that mental hurdle is often the hardest to overcome.

Think about it. Your given a 100 energy allowance a day to use however you please. Once its expended, you have to wait for it refill or use your spoils to obtain CE. As your short term goals shift, like upgrading equipment, you shuffle your resources in a way to help speed up the process. Purchasing CE is considered a direct investment, and the sudden attachment of a $$$ value behind it heavily changes your perception on its use.

eeeehhhh...

I don't know about free elevators, however something like a rare prize in the prize wheel could be like one free elevator ticket and as long as you have one, you could step onto the elevator and you could get a prompt window saying something like "Would you like to use your free elevator ticket? Remaining tickets: # of tickets. Yes or No. That would be kinda cool :D

How about... :/

An Arena type thing where you pay to get in, and it's like doing normal arenas in the clockworks.

Enter

Do stage one: get cr.

Do stage 2: get cr.

Do stage 3: get cr.

etcetc, but obviously harder each time. Get to the end and hit jackpot.

Lose/give up however, and you lose all the cr that you gained in there, plus all the energy you used to revive.

But you have the option of leaving the arena at any time between stages, like they do in regular arenas, with all the stuff you gained.

It's a gamble. Continue and get more, or cut your losses and go.

Mist refill rate and Mist Tank size

There have been discussions regarding the amount and rate of refill for Mist Energy.

I support an option to accommodate more playtime styles.

The current model is a daily rotation with a low cap, totaling a max of about 700 Mist Energy per week. The playtime style this caters to is a short window everyday, assume an hour per day and thus 7 hours per week.

My playtime is not usually daily, so the refill rate is being wasted while the tank is full. As a solution, I would choose an option that allowed me the same amount of playtime per week just in fewer sittings. If I chose to play twice weekly, I'd like to have the equivalent of 350 Mist Energy or 3.5 hours worth of playtime available. I am aware that having more Mist Energy would alter the economy balance. As the counterbalance to this, I may be willing to accept not using Mist to craft or similar restrictions.

Alternate solution: rather than expanding the Mist Tank, purchasing an Elevator Cost Reducer. Much like the Trinket and Weapon Slot Upgrades, this item could have a limited lifespan (time played, elevators taken, or real world clock) and effectively reduces the elevator cost. Thus the same 100 Mist Energy now grants me the same playtime as a larger Mist Tank. The effects on the economy are reduced as the cost of elevators are the only direct impact.

The best of both: A secondary item, Elevator Supplemental Charge, that refills in parallel to the Mist Tank, but both more slowly. As elevators are taken, it reduces the mist cost and both are depleted. As the refill time on Mist is now longer, this choice should not have a tremendous affect on crafting.

@Negatory Workaround: buy

@Negatory Workaround: buy trinket and weapon slot upgrades with mist on your off days, sell them on the AH for profit.

For the big CE package, you

For the big CE package, you get 400 energy per dollar, that's 10 levels a quarter. That's like a round of pac-man. Not that expensive.

Lol. You can get the game

Lol. You can get the game cards from walmart for 20 bucks. I spent 40 dollars total, figured most consle games are worth that much.

Also, Negatory , I belive these are the fourms you saw concerning "mist tank expansions";

http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/33289
http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/33056

I proved both of them flawed, to a good degree. Increasing mist rate or maximum mist would damage the CE price, allot. Lowering the level costs would probabaly do the same thing, unless you lowered the crowns on those levels to an equal amount.

What Dark Ritual?

OOO gives us free elevators.

They give us no CR, Mats, etc. They are in a sense swarm monsters. You get to choose your Tier, monsters to fight, etc.

It's a practice arena.

Yes, we could have a better training ground, but not actuual level gameplay. The current ATH sucks. Kinda like the GH's.

@Negatory, Increased Mist Limit

@Negatory
I was thinking an expanded mist tank, but a 100 Mist "cap" on how much you can spend on a single purchase. Therefore you may have 265 mist available, but only the first 100 mist can be spent in a purchase. Then the mist from the rest of the tank slides down to fill that open slot again. Kind of like taking straws from a straw dispenser. This way a player can save up their time over a period of a few days and play all their hours at once, but when it comes to buying something that's worth 350 energy, they can only use 100 of their mist and must suppliment this purchase with 250 CE, regardless of how much mist they have stowed away.

@ Hexzyle, on theoretical "cap"

Err, OK. So I'll take a couple days off, have 300 or so Mist Energy stocked up, and then proceed to pay 10-energy elevator costs for boss stratum/Arena elevators for a large return of Tokens-which-lead-into-Crowns/Crowns and then proceed to make a severe killing off of a couple off days, a total of 30 floors adventured (imagine the windfall if there were two or more Arenas in the same Stratum! It has happened, ya know) . . .

. . . and so would EVERYONE ELSE, sinking the economy faster than you can whistle "Captain Murasa". As much as I, personally, would ENJOY THE HEAVENS out of that idea being put in, it would require further limiting to the point of rendering it either inconsequential or moot before it could be remotely considered 'balanced'. : /
