The Dread Venom Striker - what good is it for?

I, until very recently, was a massive DVS fan, I used it all the time and never thought of getting other weapons, my gun lay largely unused.

Then, I started to realise that the Striker was a pretty rubbish line, and as I could have weapons that dealt crit damage to anything infront of me, the normal damage seemed average. Even worse, I got a Nightblade, which outperformed my DVS all the time, apart from when it was weak to things.

Now I have, from recipe trading, the money to have a Final Flourish, Silent Nightblade, Blizzbrand, and my choice gun, the Volcanic Pepperbox, at once.
This leaves my 5star DVS pretty useless, and I'm wondering how to recoup money or find a use for this DVS, as it costs 4k CE to unbind, which is a lot.

Suggestions on what to do, anyone?

Vanaduke

I was in a similar situation 6 months ago. In other words, I'm you, 6 months from now.

I can't imagine that you can turn a profit by unbinding and selling this thing to other players. If you absolutely must get rid of it, you can sell it to a Stranger for 30,000 crowns.

I keep the DVS around. Very occasionally I use it, for pure nostalgia. It is kind of fun.

People use DVS against the Royal Jelly. People use it against the Vanaduke mask phases. I've also seen people use it against the body phases, but this requires careful fire management.

Vanaduke

The Nightblade destroys Mr. Jelly, but am I correct in thinking only Normal does full damage to Vanaduke in the phases? I'll keep it handy, as I know shadow fails against him anyway, thanks :)

piercing and normal

Piercing is the best damage type to deploy against Vanaduke's body phases (1, 3, 5). Normal is the best damage type to employ against his mask phases (2, 4). Poison is of course nice.

But really I view the DVS as a "let's do a run with some weird swords that I haven't used in a while" kind of sword.

Reasons I like it

A.) Poison
B.) Quicker Guard Frames
C.) Locking enemies

Take Ninja gremlins. Sure Nightblade does more damage, but I can litterally make them brawl trip constantly and they'll never get out of my combo. Nightblade? More damage, but then they get out of it and more cloaking. The dread venom ensures the most protection along with a high damage output against any monster.

Not to mention I can wombo combo any array of random enemies for good damage.

Mortafires. Those damned

Mortafires. Those damned Mortafires. I recently made a Vile striker for the hell of it and took it on a T2 OCH. The second one of those buggers turned his back, Boom, no more Gremlin

I used to think it was

I used to think it was useless too, then I saw this video of a solo UFSC where it seems quite useful, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzBG1gYBK_s I have since started to use my VS in some situations.

It's great for the Roarmulus Twins. You should try your Volcanic Pepperbox on them too.
