This person told me the cobalt set is bad. Should I switch?

Yeah

Cobalt is actually fine; its only downside is that it doesn't have any qualities that make it stand out among the other piercing protection gear (Ironmight, Mercurial, Skolver, Royal Jelly, etc.).

Yes, Cobalt set is bad and

Yes, Cobalt set is bad and you should switch.

I can't advise you to which set you should switch, because you don't stated what your weapons are, but generally offensive armors are considered the best (wolver line for swordsman, gunslinger line for gunners and spiral demo line for bombers).

I know what it's like

I used to use the azure guardian set, which really was a horrible choice to get to azure.. Either way change to wolver, gunlinger, spiral demo before its to late (wasting 2400 CE)

Whatever

Eh.. The Cobalt series is fine so long as you fight Slimes and Beasts exclusively and little else. Basically, it has only Normal and Piercing defense and leaves the wearer vulnerable to Shadow and Elemental Damage (which is perfectly fine if you never encounter those). If you happen to use more Handguns you might as well go for the Gunslinger series instead or if you tend to use your Swords more, then the Wolver series is recommended. And as long as you use this I-fight-enemies-that-deal-Piercing-Damage-only set, you might as well get yourself a Piercing Weapon for the Beasts and a Shadow Weapon for the Slimes.

You're still going to want

You're still going to want something else, though. Defenses eventually mean very little as you get better at evading enemy attacks and when you get into t3 where everything hits like a truck anyways. That leaves you with any status effects your armor will stop and any attack/speed boosts the armor grants. Colbat has none of that.

Cobalt is bad, it was the

Cobalt is bad, it was the biggest mistake to go into cobalt. Its set with pierce/normal defence withouty any status resists and without any default UV. There are plenty of armors who provide same defence as cobalt but they also give you status/default uvs.

The only advantage of cobalt is that you dont have to overpay/hunt for recipes.

Cobalt is bad. Seriously,

Cobalt is bad. Seriously, what does it offer that Wolver doesn't? Nothing. It's basically the only armor line that has no bonuses whatsoever.

If the stat bars on the wiki are correct, it offers a tiny bit more defense against piercing and normal than wolver. I think.

@Lordofnecromancers Except even there it's outclassed by the Jelly and Quicksilver lines.
