Like the topic said. I was bored.

The fight went reasonably well for phase 1 (I count the crown showing damage as phase 2, and spinny as phase 3). I slowly poked the two polyps to death and then, once they were down, jabbed the big guy until his crown cracked.

Phase 2 is where it all went a bit pear shaped though. I started off with trying to take down the polyps, but by the time I had the third one down the first one respawned again. I then just tried out-DPSing his healing while killing as many minis as I could (they're one-hit for any weapon, so it wasn't like I was wasting a lot of time on them), but I couldn't keep the damage up.

I eventually gave up and just melted him with my silent nightblade.

I have to say I'm a bit stymied. I'm not sure how exactly to deal with the polyps respawning so quickly in phase 2, and in phase 3 I assume I'm going to be basically screwed.

For the record I was running with max damage vs slime on my swords (Virulisk set, BTS, Elite Slash).

Stabbing a jelly is just like ergh with a peircing sword XD Nice try though.... possibly with a 5 star one it could be done? I haven't tried... but I did not know it was one hit any weapon for minis though.. nice to know.

Poison vials then? Since you're not using them in the first phase (or at least you didn't mention them), then use them there. Curse if you're lucky.
Unless you were trying for a purely weapons route, in which case, good luck.

@Negimasonic I was doing it purely weapons. Dropped 3 poison, curse and fire vials outside of the gate before going in.

@Aemicus I did record it, but since I gave up half way through I deleted the video.

@Trying I suppose I could try the Flamberge. Does it have a chance of inflicting fire on each hit, or just the third? Given RJ's headbutt attack I can't really afford to do full combos on him, though I suppose doing the charge attack on the polyps would take them down quicker.

Phase 1 Polyps - Do not respawn.
Phase 2 Polyps - Respawn fairly slowly.
Phase 3 Polyps - Respawn quickly.

My tactic was killing the polyps in phase 1, trapping jellies, and "gunning down" RJ while utilizing explosive blocks. With precise positioning of myself and the boss to burn down phase 2 and 3 with vials after.

Took alot of testing routes where I simply controlled the fight long enough to figure this and many other things out.

Absolutely glad other players have been doing handicap matches to increase their difficulty. Just like you and other people, I was bored. I'm inspired by other people doing this and any intel I had gotten from these things is the least I can provide.

@Zinqf Yeah, I'm thinking phase 3 at least is going to be very rough without vials. Also, glad you liked the vana video. :D

I bid on a Flamberge in the AH, and I'm hoping that the focused charge attack and chance of fire will let me keep a few of the polyps down in phase 2, and for phase 3 I'm banking on all fire for a DPS rage against the pink guy, and cleaning up as many minis as I can while he's doing the spin.

I'm not totally sure what I'll do with the big cubes. I may just kite them around, as annoying as they are. I'm not 100% sure but I've gathered that RJ spawns them himself with his blobby twirl attack? I'm pretty sure that the OG minis (the ones that don't go down in one hit and aren't spawned from the polyps) don't ever respawn and I don't believe RJ absorbs them to heal.

OMG OOO look at what poor

OMG OOO look at what poor people started doing now ( proto Vana runs, bombing only boss runs, gunning only boss runs, piercing sword for JK, shadow swords in FSC, using 3* shield in FSC became popular since enemies are easily dodgable). We need new content ASAP or soon for the sake of challenge everyone will run in proto gears.

PS: I remember someone did mist bombs only Vana solo 0_0
