Ready to place bomb down notification

I was told via support by a lovely GM named Coriolis to log my suggestion here.
So! I thought I'd just copy & paste what I emailed support here 'cause it was
quite long winded... and I'm lazy =P

"Basically my idea is when readying a bomb- for the light/spark to change to a
more vibrant colour so that players are able to see properly when their bomb is
ready to be set down. Many a time I have loaded a bomb and mistakenly tried
to set down the bomb thinking it was ready when in fact it wasn't.

At the moment the colour transition goes white>yellow which is a very subtly
change. It looks nice and all but there are times when I miss that change,
thinking that the white is yellow and... yeah, no bomb go "boom".
Especially when I'm surrounded by hoards of enemies, visibility is nil.

Also, I know that a sound accompanies the light... I'm guilty of having the in
game music on mute and playing my own music quite high, so I do miss that
sound on the odd occasion.

So my suggestion is; would it be possible to change the light transition when
readying a bomb?
For example you could change it to white>red or white>blue even! Just
something more vibrate instead of saturated. Maybe even toning down the
yellow to an amber?

Adding to that suggestion- would be to have the colour correspond with the
knights colour chosen at the beginning?"

It is a small change but one I believe would make a difference ^_^

Personally, I never had

Personally, I never had problem with charging, even without any sounds, but I'll give this a +1 either way since it may help other players and shouldn't be too hard for the devs to implement.

Sometimes i have the same problem, even when i don't play my own music. Like you said, its hard to see and hear when there are multiple things going on.

It can get really

It can get really visually/audio-ly confusing when a group of bombers is laying down some spam on top of each other. I included a better indicator as part of my "modify charge mechanics" suggestion here http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/40619

I've got the problem too where sometimes I will think I see the change in color and go to drop my bomb but it doesn't actually deploy, a solid indicator would fix this.

I occasionally just go into a support mode to help my team... and when i'm spamming Toxic Vaporizer/Vortex it really sucks to wind up almost placing one and then having to retreat while it reloads...

Not to hijack this thread at

Not to hijack this thread at all but while we are talking about re-coloring bomb effects. Would it also be possible to see the floor a bit easier when a bomb has been deployed? During vana especially it seems I'll run over spikes or fire that I don't know is there because the bomb makes it impossible to see the floor.

I'm not alone!

As horrible as this sounds, I'm glad I'm not alone on this!
Thank you everyone for bumping this thread.

@Phoenyx I don't mind you hijacking this thread, I'm just happy my point came across clearly and hopefully the devs don't miss this thread!

On a hijacking tone

First, I agree with the color change idea. It could be very useful.

As to the visibility, I also find this to be somewhat troublesome, especially when Vana's roof tiles start falling. However, it seems like it's a payoff for using a haze/vapor line bomb. They're supposed to create a mist, and mist inhibits visibility. I think it's a payoff for the effect of the bomb.

Maybe make the bomb's symbol

Maybe make the bomb's symbol appear above your head like when you pick up an item?

....I...can't resist.....

[*Ping* Your bomb is now ready to detonate. Please place it gently on the floor and back away from it slowly.]

Now imagine that ready notification, in PvE, from a full bomber.
