Looking for weapons to match my playstyle

So I've been playing for a while now, and have finally figured out what I'm looking for for the play style of my guy... but I need help with the weapons that will best accomplish that. I'm also focused on using both a sword and a gun.

First off, I'm looking for more of a fast playstyle. I'd like to be able to shield as quickly as possible since I tend to get in the thick of things. This makes me thing that a fast sword and gun (as well as a high magazine for the gun) would be the best. Fast sword swings should let me have more windows to shield faster, and a 6 shot magazine should do the same (less re-loading shield lock-outs).

So my initial thought is a Wild Hunting Blade (cutter line) which will cover my piercing damage. It would be paired with an Argent Peacemaker (Antigua line) which would cover my Elemental damage.

However, I've never owned either of these weapons, or even weapons from these Alchemy lines. Are there any drawbacks that I'm missing, or would they not let me shield like I'm thinking they should?

Thanks for the help.

Hmmm...

Get the Flourish/Snarble Barb Line. They tend to Swing Fast, Cover a Wide Area, & allow you to Shield Faster than any other Sword in the Game.*CoughOverPoweredCough*

If you want Elemental Damage, Argent Peacemaker. If you want Shadow Damage, Sentenza. They Both Shoot 6-Clips & have a Bonus to either Undead or Gremlin, depending on your Choice.

EDIT: Wild Hunting Blade doesn't Deal Piercing...Unless Stealth Patch?
EDIT2: Nope. It still does Normal. Just Checked.

Fast swords? Then we rule out

Fast swords? Then we rule out heavy swords from the sealed sword lines.

For piercing, you have a choice of snarble barb, or flourish. Snarble barb requires you to defeat the snarbolax boss several times to obtain. Flourish is craftable from 2*. There is no difference in damage between the 2 lines. Flourish has the option to craft into stun and fire lines, at the cost of damage. The other difference is the charge. Barb line shoots out a spray of thorns in front of the user, each thorn dealing damage. Flourish line is a 3hit combo, delaing high damage per hit and lunging the user forward during the animation.

For elemental and shadow, the fastest swords which deals such damage is the brandish line. 3 swing, medium speed, and a good aoe charge. You have 3 elemental brandish, one for each status effect. The damage are all the same, the only difference is the status inflicted on the charge.

The shadow sword is acheron, also crafted from the brandish. Its predecessors are called nightblade. Its charge is the same explosions as other brandishes, minus status infliction.

Demon- I wouldn't be opposed

Demon-

I wouldn't be opposed to a slow sword, I guess my thought was that the slower the swing, the less responsive the shielding is. I'm not sure if this is accurate or not, but it is how it seems to me. If I'm wrong on that I'd love to know.

Thanks for the info both of you.

The difference between the

The difference between the heavy sword and fast sword is the speed of the swing, and the length of the recovery. The recovery affects the speed you can get your shield up. Generally, these are all negative effects of the sword.

The heavy swords make up for it by have 2 wide swings, allowing them to hit multiple monsters in a combo. They deal more damage per hit, but less damage in the same amount of time compared to faster swords. If you are hitting more than 4 monsters, heavy swords deal more damage in the same amount of time.
