The issue with this is that there are so many different time zones from people all over teh world playin SK. They could be halfway through their day then encounter night / all dark out in Haven? That'd be wierd.
Imo 24 hours night time, I can't stand the brightness.

Love the idea.
But I wonder... Does Spiral Knights have a real illumination system?
Or it's just different textures we see in the "night" levels in the Clockworks?
If it's an illumination system, then this wouldn't be hard to implement, just change the illumination and maybe play a different music track when it's night.
If there isn't, new textures would have to be made for about everything you see in Haven, which would take much more effort for Devs.
I hope for a reply from Nick or any other developer.

I support this.
Assuming it can be easily implemented as Eeyup explained, it would add some definite variety to Haven. We already know snipes glow in the dark thanks to the Stranger Hats, why not let them show it off? A new music track (like the holiday version) would be great too.
As for the differing time zones ... I'm not certain how to fix that given we only have two servers. One could claim the time of day in Haven and the time of day in real life have no reason to be linked, but that's a little shaky.

I love the idea, but I agree with The-Rawrcake, there are lots of different time zones so it would be diferent times for everyone.

I'd love to see those old
I'd love to see those old street lamps around the city, lighting up your way from the Auction House to Bazaar to Arcade at night. They would add an awesome feel to Haven.

if you know SK lore you would be aware of the fact that Cradle has no fixed orbit (it's a great big planet eater) so there is no set day or night cycle on the surface (can be anything down below), guess this argument could go either way for a day/night cycle as there is no reason for a set time period for day or night, but that doesn't mean there won't be a time for light or darkness as Cradle's random orbit could mean night and day could come and go at anytime :D

Love this idea. And I think about the talk or time zones could be server based? Yeah there's a large difference in us timelines across the states, but make it a time zone close to the server. Or even just not real time night and day. Maybe half cycles so everyone can enjoy :D? Though real time would just seem nicer to me in m opinion but maybe not for others.
