5* Equip Prestige Missions

I want to start by saying that I have really enjoyed the new missions, the Gauntlet mission in particular like others have said, and am looking forward to this patch hitting live.

However, something concerns me -

It caught my eye while testing that I had a prestige mission to turn in a 5* weapon (DVS). This is pretty much ridiculous. I realize that prestige missions are optional, and as such I have defended the equip turn-ins up to 4*, since the effort to do so was still relatively low and as mentioned entirely optional.

Currently, a 4* equip turn-in mission yields 200 prestige and comes at a price of at least 400 CE and 2500 crowns, plus whatever you decide to do to acquire the 3* version of the item (AH or crafting) and the time it takes to heat up the 3* version to level 5. A pretty massive CE/crown sink, but the time required isn't too bad.

The 5* equip turn-in yields a measly 40 more prestige (240 total), but requires at LEAST double the CE and crowns to do so, plus a much a greater time sink involved in heating up the 4* to Level 10.

This is all coupled with the fact that nobody knows what the rewards for prestige are or who qualifies for them.

TL;DR - Either remove the 5* equip prestige missions or drastically increase the prestige gain, or at the very least give us details on some of the prestige rewards so that we can stop biting at the invisible crown-sinking carrot.

Thanks!

Another alternate suggestion

Another alternate suggestion would be to have, in the event of crafting prestige dailies, two options per rank - one for the highest level equip (in this case, 5*) for X prestige, and one for the one right below (in this case, 4*) for less than X prestige, so that people at the highest rank are not pidgeon-holed into spending drastically more resources to get a minor boost in prestige.

Sorry for the double post, open to suggestions :)

Yeah, i totally agree with that and wanted to suggest it myself. Currently there're players out there who are staying at knight elite rank (not progressing further) just to be able to turn in 3* weapons for prestige instead of 4*. I believe after new missions update some of them will reach defender elite rank and stay there to be able to turn in 4* weps, while the others will be raging. I believe that if you'll have an option to turn in 4* gear instead of 5* (for less prestige of course) it'll definitely make a difference.

Personally i'm defender right now and turned couple 4* weapons, but after the update i'll just reach defender elite and stop doing missions until prestige situation becomes more clear. Well, there's vana mission in there and the gauntlet, but i can live without it.

Or just give us some hint of the purpose of prestige. Personally i think that people reaching certain amount of prestige points will have access to "something". So the faster you gain prestige the earlier you'll have access to "it". That's just my opinion, but i think it makes sense.

Oh god, why did I have to

Oh god, why did I have to peek in here? ._. OOO, please tell us what purpose does prestige have already or erase those ridiculous weapon grabbing missions (3* doesn't concern me THAT much though) else you are going to turn even more looks towards you... please reconsider.

And it's this kind of situation that I hope some solution will be implemented to avoid - people sticking around at lower ranks to have the lower cost prestige missions to stockpile more prestige before ranking up. There'd have to be some mathcraft to see if this would actually be advantageous, but the fact that it's even considered means there's a flaw in the system.

That's really the big issue right now, is that people don't know what they're striving for. I like that solution, but I also think it'd be cool if you had two different prestige values - Lifetime (which would never decrease, essentially bragging rights) and Current (acts as a separate currency like crowns or CE). Both of them increase like you normally do when gaining prestige. There would be a new vendor that offers accessories, weapon/armor reskins (like Scissor Blades), and potentially new equipment that you could purchase with your "Current" prestige. As you rank up, more items become available to you for purchase.

But that's just me, and I am neither psychic nor the game's designer :)

There are 3 choices in terms

There are 3 choices in terms of what to do with Arms Acquisition missions.

1. Have Rarity still be attached to your Knight Rank and missions still require 5* weapons, but drastically increase prestige earned.

2. Divide rarity by half in relation to missions. So Rank 1-3 requires 1* weapons, Rank 4-5 is 2* and Rank 6-final is 3*

3. Reduce cost of crafting

Should have the option of choosing to turn in one of five items for the mission (so every * level is represented). Each star down you go, the less and less prestige you get. Don't want to get the 3* item, but have the 2* on hand? Turn that in instead.

It would also free you up from getting completely screwed at the higher levels. I regret proceeding past the ability to turn in 3* items now.

As for what Prestige is gonna be used for, I get the feeling that even OOO doesn't know. Kinda worries me.

prestige would be useful to buy accessories
ex: 5000 for toasty wings
2500 regal headband
whos with me?

I agree: the arms

I agree: the arms appropriation missions cost way more than they should relative to the prestige granted. But if the amount of prestige granted was increased.... You can get some pretty good gear off the supply depot, and these missions have to walk a fine line between being interesting/ worth it vs providing a way for players to buy success with a click and a credit card.

I'm not sure what the solution is- it probably involves tweaking the underlying premise of the mission in some way. Thoughts?

Edit: I just noticed the time stamp on this page-1 thread. Sorry for the bump.
