This forum doesn't need any more unique attributes...which other forum on the modern-day internet forces you to program your own post with HTML? I mean really. This forum uses technology from the early '80s.
That being said however, signatures are one of the few things that I don't mind not being available. Everyone who has used forums before has had people with 850px Height signatures, and it's very annoying.

Signatures, from my own experience as a forum goer, is just self-advertisement space. It's not very useful at all, and just clutters the forum.
Custom images, on the other hand, would be very nice. The presets are okay, but I'd rather show off my own character at least.
What do I think of them?
I think that there are other forum related features that should take priority, and that signatures aren't that great anyway.
I think they're pointless; I do find them interesting at first (some people can be very creative), but they get old way too fast, and give you extra scrolling to do. I'd rather ask for more urgent fixes/improvements like a freaking SAVE button, so we won't need to preview every single reply we make.

It might be good to put... say 10 or so custom ascii characters below your forum avatar. But other than that, I agree with the other posters. Forum sigs tend to waste space.
Prolly not... I like being able to just get straight to the point... the text someone is writing ... and it makes this forum different then others out there...
Or you could copy & past something like the below...
