Not all shields are weighed equal, you know!

I recently had an idea for an update regarding shields. Now, the Plate line and the Owlite line are very different shields, but both count as the same type somehow. I feel that there should be two types of shield; Heavy (Ex: Plate, Omega, Ancient, etc.) and Light (Ex: Owlite, Scale, Jelly, etc.). Light shields would function the same way all shields do right now. However, Heavy shields would have a slightly wider blocking radius, and the ability to defend anybody else inide said radius, like the Guardian shield in King Krogmo's arena.

Player 1 shields
Player 2 (and 3-4 if available) attack -may be hard with fast moving sword,but what about bombs or guns-
Before Player 1's shield breaks,Player B uses his shield
Switch sides, repeat.

This is already possible in King Kormo's arena,but players are faster and more powerfull than regular enemies so this strategy isnt used. Besides it's slow, and you need to be fast to capture points.
On a random level with monsters you dont have these drawbacks.

And a wider blocking range forces you to unshield through bullet hell, otherwise the edges would be clipped by hits.

Hey, buff plate series shields and leave all others alone.

Pretty unfair huh?

Plate shields are already good.

~Me the one who uses only Volcanic Plate Shield with a sucess for whole game starting from snarby and ending on SL runs.

Like Juances said, there are flaws in this. I'd rather make heavy shields have a more powerful bump and its drawback would be a minimally slower shielding movement (they need a downside too, you can't just buff random gear and think stuff will remain balanced).
