The concept:
A normal damage sword, with moderately low damage, and a spur like attack pattern. Said damage would be similar to a cold iron carver versus things that aren't undead. Ridiculously high knockback on normal hits- similar to that of an irontech destroyer! Charge attack would be a long sweeping blow (like the old proto sword charge), with 4 times the knockback of a big angry bomb (ridiculously high). The sword MUST MAKE ENEMIES FLINCH for it to be effective in the least. This will prevent griefing.
The strategy:
For use by gunners wanting a utility sword to protect them. It'd be able to push stuff back quite far, with its long sweeping motions, although wouldn't be the greatest damaging weapon to use for any real purpose- it would knock enemies back, making it convenient to attack with in that fashion. It wouldn't squash out other knockback weapons like sudaruska and gran faust due to its far lesser damage, and it would be potentially useful in lockdown against toothpick skolvers.
Other swords, like brandishes, could use the distance as well to help gather a charge- bombs as well.
The preferred implementation:
Said weapon should be obtained from the spur as an upgrade, obtainable as a clockworks recipe. This would allow a fair chance for it to be used in T2 lockdown as well as T3. This would also allow it to reuse the spur icon, which looks epic.
I say they bring back old spur attack pattern... make the charge like the one you define.. then I'd feel more wind from it.
But if not, then they should make this sword.
