I see where this would be a problem but it feels right to me. I think this would change the game alot but not to the wrong end. I realy got this idea from playing several games. The most relivant is Kid Icarus: Uprising. In this game attacks autochanrge after a while where in this game one has to hold a button to charge. when dashing attacks become stronger or faster but in one burst, while standing or moving normaly will fire or attack continuely. I think dash attacks would work nicely in the game. For example:
Bombs would be tossed instead of dropped when using dash cousing impact damage.
Guns would fire all shots in one burst.
Swords would be somewhat unique but dash attacks would be a single swing.
Shields would push enemies farther using dash.
Dash would be a simple push of movement that momentarly increases speed. It will take time to and causes exhaustion if use to often. I was thinking somewhat of stun and sleep effect to happen when overusing dash too often to occure.

This is essentially free instant charge attacks and gives shields an attack without limiting mobility or attack patterns which are designed to balance combat.
This game is designed to be balanced, not give you overpowering attacks over everything.
