I’ve been mulling this idea over for months, and think it’s time to make the suggestion. I’ll try to keep it brief.

Disclaimer: I did a pretty thorough search through the Spiral Wiki and the Forums for a similar idea and couldn’t find it. If the suggestion has already been made, please linky!

I’ve seen some pretty amusing things happen during my time playing Spiral Knights. Often times, you might be the only player to see a certain awesome move…

Examples

• Knocking a Lumber away from you, just in time for it to whack and stun a gun puppy.
• Killing 2, 3 or more Monsters in a single shot. (3 could be called a “Hat Trick”)
• “Passing” a monster around like a hockey puck while you and your allies take turns taking shots.

I’m sure there are more – please share if you have any good ones!

Now, I don’t know if any recognition for “stylish moves” are built in to the game already (ie: perhaps rewarded in the way of pick-up materials). That being said, I don’t know how difficult coding it in would be either.

I don’t think this belongs in the “Achievement” category, but perhaps it could tie in nicely with “Prestige” points somehow.

I also think it might be fun to see how many “Prestige Points” are earned by each player at the end of the run.

I realize this idea may be full of holes, but I wanted to get the idea out there!

Have at ‘er!

edit: typo

Too hard to apply.

Too hard to apply. It would be AWESOME tho, I'd get 40k prestige in no time. :p
But they do not have any coding for this. Materials are entirely random.

You could 'play hockey' with a zombie, then revive it with totems and farm points all day.

Might be fun, but...

...why?

As someone whose only 5* sword is a Sudaruska and who mostly uses bombs, these all seem fairly easy to achieve. In fact, I do achieve them quite often and I do have fun with it.

The biggest problem I'm seeing (as you sort of hinted at) is that it would take a lot more background code to check for these things constantly, whereas humans can easily "detect" when they occur.

The next problem is that some weapons would simply be unable to perform some of these things. For example, an Alchemer wouldn't be able to knock back a Lumber ("lumbar" is like your lower back or something, by the way) or "pass" a monster around. While these style points might encourage people to try different play styles, they also might cause some people frustration because they aren't able to afford new weapons. However if the point system was completely separate from existing rewards, and did not affect how people earn crowns/mats/anything, that might be okay. Devs have mentioned that Prestige will have more uses in the future, so having these count for Prestige might bring rage.

The third problem is kind of a personal preference more than anything, but I feel like it's more fun if people come up with their own "stylish moves". People already do things like speed runs or single weapon class runs (e.g. bombs only). If there was an institutionalized system for these things, I feel like it would take away from the creativity that people put into their runs.

I dunno, I guess I'm just not seeing the advantages of a style system outweighing the potential issues that could come out of it.

@Juances An easy block for

@Juances An easy block for that is limiting how many times you gain points for that given action.

@Manalicious-Knight The fact

@Manalicious-Knight The fact that some weapons can't move monsters isn't an issue, as most monsters can be moved by shield bumping them. I agree with the rest of your post, though.

No thanks.

That would take a lot of code, and I don't really believe it would be worth it.

yeah!

It would be nice, but i don't think it should go with prestige though. Maybe it should go with heat, like get a little extra heat for getting the points. I also think, if this was added to the dev.'s suggestion box, it should be something thought of for the future. good idea though.
