Think of this: If a Optimizer (Bomber/gunner/swordy) is able to coast with ease through any part of the game, why should be Buff all gear that is not coasting through the game, but making the game a bit of a challenge? I mean, I can solo FSC with nothing more then an ISB, plate, and a swifty... if its that easy, shouldn't we just nerf everything else, until things are a challenge?

-.-

Enemies need a buff, and

Enemies need a buff, and whether people like it or not some weapons need a nerf as well. Buffing all weapons to the level of brandish and DA is like trying to put out a fire by throwing gasoline on it, I agree with you.

Psycho, that thread has to do with normal damage as a whole and why it's obsolete; this concerns buffing up weapons that aren't up to par with the godly power of brandishes and DAs.

I was joking. Tsu's a friend of mine, if I was trying to oppose her, I'd say more than 'thats not what you said'.

"buffing up weapons that aren't up to par with the godly power of brandishes and DAs."

Ikr. In FSC, I can literally shout 'FREEZERAY' every time I release a Charge at a crowd of Slags. Maybe I should try using the WRH instead...

I see. Sorry, my joke detector is broken. Is it a federal offense to leave it broken? Sure, but I can't get the darn thing to work. :(

Yeah, really. It doesn't help that WRH charges deal considerably less damage than Brandish charges when not only is your movement speed reduced, you actually have to plan out when to use it instead of facerolling everything with a mindless charge that utterly shreds anything it hits.

hold on

if we buff the neutral damage then we would have to buff the other damage types because the neutral damage would be pretty much the same as the other damage types

That's not exactly true; the

That's not exactly true; the problem with normal damage is that no matter what you use it on, weapons with special damage will outclass it. It has no use, it's just a filler type until you get your second specialized weapon, then you're effective against two thirds of the enemies and neutral to the other third.

The problem is, however, that even when fighting weapons that have neutral resistance, special damage is higher than normal damage (see Tsu's threads with the numbers and such in them), so there's literally no reason to bring a normal damage weapon unless it has some godsend ability that makes it extremely important (some gunners get Valiance for its slight knockback that works well but not so much it murders your team).

In a nutshell, Normal damage needs to have something it's effective against, or be slightly more powerful against special damage when fighting against things the special damage is neutral to, but special damage should still outclass it when fighting something it's effective against.

"instead of facerolling everything with a mindless charge that utterly shreds anything it hits."

Tell me about it. With an immobilizing attack like freeze, it lines up your enemies for another round of severe hurt.

I used to use my Ascended Calibur in FSC, but I found the Blizzbrand to be more effective. WRH was a bit harder to control, and crowd control was much harder. The charge attack left me way too open.

Ponies?

...I don't like ponies.

Brandishes need to deal less damage or at least have some sort of issue like Blitz Needles where they deal high damage and melt everything but leave you wide open, really. Or limit the amount of times something can be hit by explosions in one charge before becoming immune to the damage (but not the statuses or knockback).

Got caught with your joke detector broken, eh?

And I agree, they should buff monsters to keep up with the weapons. Nerfing them hurts the fun factor like a Thwack Hammer hurts a T1 Jelly Cube.

Because people have feelings. Monsters do not.

If your shiny new DA is doing amazingly, and the brandish gets a buff, you don't say "NO FAIR!", you say "Oh, cool, maybe I'll make that now."

If your shiny new DA is doing amazingly, and it gets a nerf, you're not going to be too happy about it. All of the sudden, you've got to settle for the lesser option- and pay again.

Similarly, if you buff a monster, players say "oh good, a challenge" or "omg that was too hard!", depending on if it actually needed a buff in their eyes.
