The best is the one that

The best is the one that suits for the current enemies you are fighting and with weapon trinkets you can get quite the power boost with any of the armors.

Actually it does. There is no

Actually it does. There is no such thing as the "best" armor. It's all based on the challenge you face. Would you use a Vog Coat against something that deals Shadow Damage? No. Would you use a Snarbolax Coat against Piercing damage? No.

It's all based on your situation and your weapon loadout.

EDIT: Before someone says it, I'm not including UVs or elemental trinkets.

Sebastian just get Vog cub

Sebastian just get Vog cub first so you can farm FSC.
Imo ASI > DMG all the time anyway. But since most of the people here have swiftstrikes/barb shield + trinkets to accomodate anything they are lacking, it doesn't matter all that much to them.

to start, vog set gives ASI

to start, vog set gives ASI VERY HIGH, skolver gives damage bonus VERY HIGH, and snarbolax give damage bonus VERY HIGH. in my own personal opinion, there isn't really a "best." first of all, you need to realize what type of enemy you're facing before choosing a set. for instance, if i was facing greavers and preferred asi, i would still choose snarbolax because of the shadow resistance. secondly, you it really depends what you prefer. if you want to use vog over skolver, or vice versa, it's fine that you prefer asi over damage. it finally also depends on what trinkets you have. if you dont have any asi trinkets and skolver/snarb, heavy swords feel very slow and bulky, while flourishes seem to do the best. in all, there really isn't a "best" set between all of them. they each have their own niches and excel in their own situations.

i mean like PvE like Glacies

i mean like PvE like Glacies said, "would you use vog coat against somthing that does shadow dmg? No.

what im saying is which ones the real best for PvE forget vana and all that stupid stuff, normal depths, poison, shock, fire, freeze, there is no armor that resists poison is there so whats the best for that?

you getting the point now?

Snarbolax armor resists

Snarbolax armor resists poison. There is no "best" of all 3, they each have their own abilities. vog is best for construct and gremlins, skolver is best for beast and slime, snarbolax is best for undead ( excluding FSC) and fiends.

Snarbolax gives poison

Snarbolax gives poison resist.

And it really depends on if you wanna swing faster or deal more damage per swing. It depends on your personal play style. Some people use skolver with a quick strike buckler, some use vog with a barb shield...

There is no definitive 'best'.

Look at all the posts before this one. The armour you wear is entirely situational. Would you wear Ash Tail if you were gunning in a Graveyard? No. You wouldn't wear poison resist on a Freeze level. You'd wear Freeze resist, ergo Skolver for swordies. (Wolver sets get stuck when it comes to Shock, though.)
It all depends on situation.

Oh, and btw...
There are armours which resist poison (the ones I can remember: Snarby set, Angelic line, Drake Scale line).

@Coatl I think it's been proved: Per point, damage bonus increases your DPS more than ASI.

EDIT: Got double ninja'd for the Snarby's poison resist...

I think he means most

I think he means most balanced set..
Like...the one set that is good for everything.

Sebastion the closest you could get to balanced is a divine veil + skolver coat.

suggestions

You'll get more useful discussion in the Arsenal forum. You can move this thread there by editing the thread itself and choosing a new forum. While you're at it, you'd be doing us a service if the thread title were more descriptive: "Which sword armor is best?". That would make it easier to search, in the future...

People ask about these armors all the time. Search the forums, for immediate answers to such frequently asked questions.

The other posters here are giving good advice. My own answer is here, with some other armor for you to consider.
