Mini Elevator Pass for New Accounts

So I joked about this in General Discussion but on reflection it didn't sound like too bad of an idea.

OK, so new players often complain about being stymied by the Mist/Crystal Energy system. I was thinking, new accounts (not new knights, new accounts) would get a 2-day Elevator Pass that they can activate at their leisure.

So here's the grit:

Details
They would receive it upon reaching Haven, and it will be bound to the first knight to reach Haven on that account. That way they will have had the early missions and Rescue Camp to become accustomed to the traditional elevator mechanics. Additionally they will (hopefully) have a basic understanding of how the whole Energy system works.

They can activate it right away or later, but it only lasts 48 hours (hopefully that's not too prolonged a period). Ideally, they would be activated by early players, allowing them to conserve their Mist Energy for crafting 1* and 2* gear. In 48 hours you can accrue 218 Mist Energy, so hopefully that leaves little room for exploiting crafting.

It would also allow them to sample as much of the early missions and arcade as they like, so that their first impressions aren't "hur dur i wanted to play but then they made me buy stuff to keep playing pfft f2p my bum". That way they have a better understanding of what the game is like and have a taste of the wonders that paying players enjoy.

I initially saw this as a hilarious way for OOO to tantalize players into going P2P, but upon evaluation (to me, at least) it seems like a great way to draw in new players. Like a free trial, but you can keep playing afterwards. A head start. What do you guys think?

1. Make alts 2. Get invites

1. Make alts

2. Get invites to any good paying floor.

3. ???

4. Profit

Repeat as needed.

Sounds good, I need more people to be able to afford 9k ce.

Seems legit.

At the moment it all seems mostly fine to me, but I haven't thought through all potential benefits/disadvantages to adding these.

I do however wonder whether it would be better to have it be activated immediately to avoid potential farming later on. That is, say someone decided to save their Mini Elevator Pass until they were able to effortlessly defeat Lord Vanaduke, and then reap the rewards several times using their Mini Elevator Pass.

My other concern is that a Mini Elevator Pass might actually have the opposite effect for some players. Maybe they enjoy being able to run through the Arcade and missions at no cost but then become disappointed after two days when they realize that they actually need to pay energy to run elevators, as they did in Rescue Camp.

The more I think about it, the more I'm against it actually. I feel like Mist Tanks are a decent way of letting newer players have a bit of fun without really spoiling them, whereas a Mini Elevator Pass might be a little too much.

I am ambivalent.

EDIT:
Demonicsothe has a point. Even if these are done once per account, people can just make separate accounts and abuse the system.

well that was over quickly

I can't believe I totally forgot about the Mist Tanks you receive periodically.

@Demonicsothe & Manalicious

Yeah I suppose the more I think about it the more difficult to control it actually is. :/

As you were...

Actually, I don't think you

Actually, I don't think you can do that. Because unless they changed it, you're allowed a max of 3 accounts per computer.

I think it's actually a pretty solid idea, mostly because that little taste of paradise tends to lure in a lot of people, especially when they think "it's only 6 dollars, for 15 times as long as the free one".

Then they're paying money for

Then they're paying money for a 2 day elevator pass. The cheapest energy pack iirc is the 2.50 for 750 CE pack. If they really wanted to abuse elevator passes, I think it'd be much cheaper just to buy the darned thing for 6 bucks.

What about simply making the earlier missions have reduced/no elevator costs instead for a limited time per knight/account? That way you couldn't really abuse it by inviting alts to FSC (well, no more than you currently can) while still extending the playing length for newer players who are still getting to grips with the game.

Can you even invite alts to

Can you even invite alts to FSC if they don't have the clearance to go there?

As soon as you get to haven

As soon as you get to haven you can be invited to FSC. The alt with its free energy can then tab the elevator for two free FSC runs that even give extra heat because you can get the deadweight alt to heatshare.

I love the intent behind this idea but exploiters gonna' exploit.

You dont get it. I'm gonna buy that energy anwyas since I need it right?, I only change the main account wich will do it.

After I buy energy with the new account, I transfer it to my main and everything looks like normal. I dont lose anything.
It's like a normal purchase to me, I get the energy I wanted plus a 48hrs elevator.

Having the first few missions

Having the first few missions free (or maybe just half priced) for the first 48 hours sounds like a great idea. I'm all for that.

@Demonicsothe

Didn't mission arena payouts get stupidly nerfed? Especially where we are talking about tier 1. Not even sure about Snarby mission but if profiting there is a problem then just exclude the Snarby mission.

Or just make it so that the altered lift costs apply for the first attempt at each applicable mission only. First attempt rule is to curb any abuse with people playing missions and then quitting them right before the lift so the mission never counts as completed.
