I LOVE the Sealed Sword, going around inflicting random status effects on monsters. But what if OOO could make it... better?

1) The charge attack SUCKS. The random status effect is cool, but you can almost never hit a monster with it! Please patch it!

2) Have Sealed Sword have its own upgrade path.

~More Damage
~Longer status effect for charge attack
~Unlock curse status effect

Sealed is not supposed to be amazing, it becomes amazing; namely through upgrading to Faust or Divine line.

Kentard has already done this here. You may notice several other items in that same thread.

If any weapon outside of Faust line has the ability to curse it had better be balanced. Seeing as the charge attack of Sealed as a 3* sword has no significant downside and it already has the ability to inflict nearly any status, there is no reason it should be able to curse.

I bet OOO LOVES hearing that one of their creations SUCKS. And then again, there's another Boss Award that can't be bought at HoH creating more strife for people.
Besides, that would ruin things like the Gran Faust and the Divine Avenger being the embodiement of Dark and Light, and so on.

"Have Sealed Sword have its own upgrade path."
What? :S
Yay! Another Boss Award that Basil won't let me have.

Basically, Lugu nails it with the first sentance.

I don't think I've ever

I don't think I've ever actually managed to hit something with that charge. Where the hell is the hitbox on that thing?

"I don't think I've ever actually managed to hit something with that charge." How? Its like a DA/GF Charge except you have no magical sword.

/shrug I'm a gunner at heart,

/shrug
I'm a gunner at heart, and that range on the giant glowy sword is really the only way I know how to hit things with the charge.

Dem projectiles

A lot (from what I have observed) of sword users tend to rely on the "throw charge projectiles at them" tactic, often forgetting that the initial swing has decent damage. This is part of why people think Troika line is less useful than Sealed lines when in reality it relies on the opposite tactic; getting in the face of your enemies and smashing their heads down their necks. Using a sword means standing face to face with your enemy and beating the liquids out of them, not hiding like a little baby and throwing rocks. Gunning is different because it has a whole different set of tactics and complications. Swords, on the other hand, are supposed to be for direct combat. The problem with a lot of players these days is their reliance on selfish survival rather than actually fighting. For example, if you only have enough health to take one hit do you use that Leviathan or Divine Avenger charge? Divine Avenger would throw projectiles and push them back a little, but Leviathan would require you to risk getting close enough to be hit; but if you are skilled enough you should be able to either dodge the attack and/or blast them away before they can hit you. This does not mean to be careless by spamming attacks on everything you see, but it does require a combination of skill with courage. A lot of people lack both.

This is just a basic review of swords in a few brief words. I can go on for pages.

For anyone who thinks they can rebut the disagreement to this thread: Sealed is designed to have a sealed power within, meaning you have to upgrade it to unseal that power and either ascend to the light with Avenger line or fall to darkness with Faust line; metaphorically, not in terms of referencing something. In the light you gain the ability to deal more direct damage and can attack more targets, but in darkness you have the ability to deliver unforeseen attacks due to your increased swing speed and the ability to inflict potentially the most dangerous status; but the charge attack for this sword is far less favorable. The main difference between the two is the intent of how the weapon is used: Avenger for the charge, Faust for basic swings. For more on Sealed lines see my notes here along with other equipment information throughout the thread.

I agree for the most part (for once!), but it bears pointing out that getting in their face to unleash a charge also benefits the DA/GF charge. There's no actual need to use Levi as a comparison: you could just compare the choice to shoot off the charge from afar with the choice to get in close and then use the charge.

Also, pretty damn sure GF does not have "increased swing speed" over DA. The bars lie.

Processing Thoughts of You Always

The speed bars are, indeed, a lie. The speed is exactly the same on my Gran Faust and Divine Avenger.

Sealed is already perfectly fine as it is. The charge is not meant to be the attraction - the upgrades are. Having a separate upgrade path (neutrality instead of good and evil, possibly) might be interesting. However, the sword is already used frequently in t2 LD, and does all right even with normal damage and the current charge. It doesn't need any changes for the 3* version.

comment concerning the antigua/cautery sword

I LOVE the Antigua, very high speed and mobility against beasts and fiends. But what if OOO could make it... better?

1) The damage SUCKS. The speed is cool, but you can only deal 18-19 damage per bullet against beast at tier 2! Please patch it!

2) Have Sealed Sword have its own upgrade path.

~More Damage
~Specific piercing damage.

ALSO I LOVE the Cautery Sword, decent attack speed and normal explosions against mobs. But what if OOO could make it... better?

1) The charge attack SUCKS. The explosions are cool, but you can only deal 3 explosions the same as brandish! Please patch it!

2) Have Cautery Sword have its own upgrade path.

~More Damage
~More explosions
~Unlock pushback effect

end of trolling...
just no, antigua/ sealed sword are meant to be weak because their true power are "sealed" unless you unleash it by either the light/dark forces, and either elemental/shadow path are already good enough.
for a heavy normal sword, see bopp's opinions
for a fast piercing gun, BN is more than enough.

for cautery sword, just a troll also. calibur line is better.
