Shadow Liars as random Prestige Missions.

I'd like to humbly suggest for discussion the Idea of Shadow Liars having a random chance at spawning as a Prestige Mission.

To preface: Since no Shadow Key would be needed to play these, there would be no rare mat at the end of the procession. Instead of being taken to the sanctuary after the boss fight, you'd be taken to a danger mission style treasure room. This would cheapen neither the reward and the rare gear that has been earned through the expense of a shadow key. No one would be cheated.

The reason: Their is far too little novel experiences in this game. The advent of danger missions has greatly helped, and doubly so!! First, they are in fact new content, and second they are an added challenge of difficulty that is quite fun. As it is, we have four awesome dungeons that are cost prohibitive to fully experience and enjoy on a regular basis. Its almost a worthless waste of CE to run a shadow liar if you don't have one, if not multiple pieces of gear at 4* lvl 10 and ready to upgrade. And even then, its tedious and expensive, organizing a group and getting each to chip in 450 ce. This random danger mission would make them accessible to all, F2P, P2P, and able to be played in a casual manner; to be played for fun, sport, and challenge.

Perhaps its just me, but being tired of FSC entirely, and having enjoyed thoroughly the new Danger missions, I find it a shame there are four high quality and challenging dungeons on the game that have such a high barrier to entry. I'd like the opportunity to play them on a regular basis, even with the only reward at the end is a hefty room-O-treasure.

I hope my fellow knights agree :) and i hope those who don't disagree politely, and remember, no one's opinion is more important or more correct the next players. And all suggestions are a matter of opinion.

Cheers, I look forward to your well thought out posts, opinions, and fellowship.

Seems like an Ok idea but I think the unknown passage should also be removed. That way, there is still something completley unique to the original shadow lair. Both SL materials and armors can be bought. Maybe tone down the payout a little bit too. Replacing all the red boxes with green ones should do the trick. Otherwise, they would be ground to death by experienced parties.

oh yes!!

i like that. great idea. one of the problems was i felt like by doing this it woudl bastardize the swarm motif. By removing the unknown passage you have just fixed that problem.

great point. Great idea. Thank you for responding, as well as improving it!

Okay, but maybe having Shadow Lairs being the rarest danger mission - each time it rotates, you get Legion of Almire/Compoud 42/Heart of Ice/one SL on rotation between the four available.
I completely agree that the Sanctuary and Unknown Passage, as well as the material, shouldn't be present. Perhaps instead you could have a level with some of the Swarm corruption, but filled with treasure boxes and with two elevators rather than one. The first should be similar to the one found in Moorcroft and Emberlight which only goes to the surface; the second could be surrounded by the corruption effect, with a possible notice saying 'Elevator out of order. Please return to surface.' (The blocked one, of course, is the one which would normally lead to Unknown Passage.)
And of course the drops from the mission version should be nerfed somewhat... but +1. It would be good for people to have a practise run without having to splash out an insane amount of cash.

No boss, no sanctuary alchemy

No boss, no sanctuary alchemy machine and no sl mat.

Otherwise big -1

even sl boss figt is too much for a #free# sl run

also, you suggest sl mission but then list things to change, lower payout, elevators lead elsewhere... If that mission woulld require modyfying original sl maps why then not make just SL themed danger mission?

Drop in some storyline about sl, scare the hell out of players with swarm (maybe swarm related boss or must few monsters to leave them with #wtf was that# expression ) but dont give them original sl boss, mat, sanctuary to keep the value and need to buy keys and dont make all who used key ripped off (if it would tuurn out that for frreew yiu can fight sl boss)

iWant. No key needed, SL experience, no price crash for SL mats and armor, and swaps out with Danger Missions. I agree with the Sanctuary being replaced with a Sanctuary-styled treasure room, and maybe a toned-down Unknown Passage after the boss. Not sure if the Echo Stone would be in the Sanctuary-treasure-room-thing, probably not.

Should go:
Mission Lobby with SL-styled elevator, like in the Terminal.
SL levels.
SL boss.
Toned-down UP.
Sanctuary Treasure Room.
Core?

Meh

I still fail to understand how Shadow Lairs need to have that much of a fee for what they provide. If it was me I would scrap them and add them as either Expansion Missions (they said that when 2nd chapter comes CE payment would be avaiable) or like your idea, 1 a day cycling, to add to the "daily missions" program, which would:

- 20 energy to daily mission.
- 20 energy to danger mission.
- 30-50 energy to Shadow Lair mission.

For an almost full energy tank.

Also, is it just me or is there only ONE Unknown Passage? Because I went with guildmates to IMF SL and the road was exactly the same... too much order for such supposed chaos. Unless the FSC one is different.

All in all, +1 to this, but give us the full experience. Shadow Keys are just a money/big crown wall to get expensive suits and Snarbolax set.

Btw. i have strange feeling

Btw. i have strange feeling that this was suggested before, it was "give us free shadow lair" or something similar to this but was crashed without mercy.

What was diffrence? That was posted by just random user while this is posted by 'Rommil'...

I remember that

If I find the thread I will link it here, but it was definitely as you describe.

The reason Rommil gets a free pass is this:

"no rare mat at the end of the procession. Instead of being taken to the sanctuary after the boss fight, you'd be taken to a danger mission style treasure room."

No special material, no Sanctuary to craft the special armor; only some boxes. Having the actual boss in there is questionable, but the floors before the boss are somewhat fair game. In the past thread the subject was basically removing the need for the key completely.

No key?

Sounds to me like you just want to do Shadow Lair but you don't want to spend ce on a key. But what's wrong with the prestige missions already in action?

I have a sinking feeling most

I have a sinking feeling most people are +1ing this just because they want to go to Shadow Lairs free of cost.

Ima stun you!

Well of course, Shadow Lairs are ridiculously overpriced. It would be better if it was DLC instead, at least crimson hammer doesn't make you pay again everytime you want to use it. People typically only go once to get the armour then that's it, feels like wasted game content that's rarely seen.

Oh, DLC? We dont have any DCL

Oh, DLC? We dont have any DCL in game yet you want SL to become first one?

And well, shadow lair is not overpriced. You can enjoy it and get back in crowns/mats what you spend on key share. Of course not if you are going there with first newbs you meet in town.

What?

Get back the money? How? A Gleaming woods SL gives 10k crowns in all its way towards it including the dungeon, when splitting costs in 400x4 (still 1600CE?) energy key it is way more. IMF SL also gives the same (12k the time I went) Also, is there really people who buy the mats?

It is just a hard mode dungeon, nothing else. You don't get anything, at all, worth it unless you count Snarbolax set armor. Which if you aren't a swordsman, you don't even need.

People may argue that Mercurial Demo is potentially the best bomber armor, but you would have to UV your bombs, use trinkets, etc...

Also, Crimson Hammer is "Disc Locked Content", something which Capcom tends to do lately...

I just screwed up my maths.
According to Cornu's new price guide, Gremlonium fetches around 30k, Maiden's Tear around 25k, Nightmare Mane 17k and Celestial Ore 11k.
Therefore, it is possible to make profit on a Shadow Lair run, but this would depend strongly on whether you split the cost with a full party and whether or not you energy revived.
