I was reading another thread and was inspired by what they said about materials. Players who have been here a while probably have stacks of 150+ of everything which they can't sell so well since the AH is flooding with them too.
This partially comes back to the fact that everyone is grinding FSC etc. for money.
Now when I was playing another game called 'Monster Hunter' something dawned on me. The reason you play the mission they give you there is because you want the MATERIALS. Not the money matters, you'll get that in time by playing the game and it's story, or by enjoying it with your friends. No, you want the materials you can gather by clearing the objective and earning them.
Since materials are a bit wonky in SK for being obsolete at times, why not change them to be rewards from certain (prestige) missions and harder to obtain? Right now i have over 200 scrap metal and ecto drops. Make those more common materials scarcer, while having the materials that are already somewhat rarer be occasionaley obtained by killing an monster, and a bit more often as a surprise reward for a mission or doing something like a run from tier to tier in the arcade.
Please leave your thoughts and maybe improvements.
EDIT: I remembered my other idea, being that materials could be used in big quantities to make stuff for your guildhall, which just like the materials is rather useless at this point. Using the surplus materials to fill it up and make it more attractive might actually create a use for the guild hall, depending on the ideas of what you can make for it.
Material droprate?
Its fine in clockworks. Unfortunately its ridiculously high in missions, yes, another nail in the coffin where clockwork lies. Its insane how often 4 and 5 star mats drop in mission compared to clockworks. You want proof? Just look at 5 star mat prices on AH, they dropped to hell in the early time when first missions were released. Im not talking about shadow steels and bones since they were always cheap (grinding FSC) im talking about all mats.
OOO realised missions are too much profitable, they reduced crown payout, they reduced heat payout but they completly forgot about materials droprate which is certainly TOO HIGH compared to clockworks.
Something has to be done with it.
