End-Credits

Hi everyone my name is End Credits and I made the switch from striker to guard about 3 weeks ago. I quite love the guardians class as I found I am quite successful using it. I am just looking for advanced strategies or tips from those of you that play this class and hopeful will make both of us better players!

First off my Guard Loadout:

Cap: Snarby Cap: pierce high
Coat: Skolver Coat: shadow high

Weapon slot 1: gigawatt pulsar/soon to be polaris
weapon slot 2: Final Flourish (ASI high)
weapon slot 3: Valiance (ASI med)

avg caps: 3-4
avg damage: 13,000

Keyboard Controls:

attack: left mouse
shield: right mouse
move: arrow keys
weapon 1: shift
weapon 2: space
weapon 3:scroll

No Autoaim

General Playstyle:

My play style is quite aggressive. Although I do not chase. I cap when possible and like to roam the map in enemy territory. My strategy for dealing with enemy players is a two shot fan of pulsar and valiance down the middle, then switch to flourish. As I walk around the map I normally carry around my valiance for a quick two shot and a fast scroll to flourish. If I see a fight commencing I will fan out pulsar on the flanks and shield the teammate. I often put up my shield when around wounded teammates.

Dealing with Strikers:

As soon as I see a striker rushing towards me I pull out my valiance for a quick two shot, pull out flourish and aim ahead of where they will be. repeat process. I find this strategy extremely successful. I can often take out full skolver strikers with only taking a hit or two and shield up or cap the remaining point.

Anyways this is my play style. Constructive criticism is welcome! Hope to have video posted soon:)

That valiance could get replaced with a sentenza.

I have actually tested the

I have actually tested the two, the valiance by far is the better choice (for me at least) due to the knock back and the increased damage output. Not to mention I have ASI on it. But anyways thanks for the response Juances!

Expect to die a lot. Don't worry; that's normal.

The valiance is probably a better choice than the sentenza in lockdown, as it concentrates damage in fewer hits. It depends on how much you want to gun, though- remember that guardians are subject to a gun penalty.

Given that your armor concentrates on sword damage bonuses, I'd recommend another sword over the second gun- if you can scrounge up some ASI, the gran faust would be a good choice for breaking down opposing guardians quickly, and few people carry much shadow defense in lockdown.

Otherwise, from the numbers your style seems a little more focused on kills vs captures. One suggestion I would make is to try to shift fights toward capture points- provide cover for your teammates while simultaneously protecting/ gaining CPs whenever possible. The polaris is a fantastic weapon for denying strikers freedom of movement, and you can use it to support teammates while on a CP.

Other guardian tips:
1. Shield maintenance: When shielding your teammates on a CP, try to ensure that everyone is spread out. Never let people stand directly on top of you. When players clump up, a single sword swing can hit multiple players, and thereby one-shot your shield. Your positioning relative to teammates will determine how long your shield lasts, so if they stand on one side (or on the center), make some room by standing off to one side. If three players are capturing, I generally prefer that they stand like the points on a triangle, though not staying motionless.

2. Riding the haze: Haze bombs do weak damage... and trigger a brief period of invincibility whenever they "ping" your shield. As a result, when facing multiple opponents, throw your shield up and walk into the haze bomb. Against a clueless bomber, this will help you survive against- and distract- 3 opposing players for 20+ seconds.

3. Know when to fight, and when to just passively take the hits: There's a natural urge to run in swinging against a mob, but when surrounded, don't be afraid to passively shield... particularly if your opponents are gunners with poor aim. By absorbing the few hits you can't dodge, you can either buy time for help to arrive, or neutralize the opposing team in a pointless 3-v-1 game of tag while your teammates are free to respawn and capture without interference.

Useful stuff, Pauling. This LD scrub found it useful, too.

Hey Credz!!!

I'm not the pro-est LD guard, but I know a few techniques to mix up your gameplay and make you less predictable (which I find a lot in guards, too predictable)

~~~Double Swing~~~
Simple technique. Use the first and 2nd flourish hits to add range. Often catches strikers off guard. Not much else to say
~~~FF Cancel~~~

This one is a lot more difficult to explain. If you're really interested, I can show you in game. I can just tell you, I get plenty of rage with this! :D

I would say more, but I'm using my phone for this and its getting annoying, so contact me in game if you wanna see some of these or if you wanna hear a few more! IGN Meisduhbest

Thanks pauling

Just used "riding the haze" for a match... it was fun to have 3 guys attacking a Decoy guard. Let my team cap 2 points while they tried to kill me. I'd also suggest trying an alchemer/magnus line, 2 shots are easy to empty.

A bomb, be it damage or haze, is advisable to help change up the flow of combat... Nitrollnome, Vortex, even shards could help. It really messes people up when a bomb comes out.
