Help me decide on my armors

I have a few decisions to make:

I'm in the process of making an armor set for each damage type.
I've made a snarby set (and fallen). I'm currently making vog cub and skolver.

I think I can afford medium UVs. I'm kind of cheap.

Anyway:

Would it be better to match the UV with the defence type, so the vog set would get +elemental UV and the skolver set would get +pierce UVs
or
Switch the UVs, so the vog set would have pierce UV, and skolver set would have elemental UV?

If I have opposite UVs, my armor sets will be more versatile, so if I run into two different damage types in one level, I'll be at least a little protected.
However, beast usually comes with slime, and gremlin usually comes with construct. For this reason, it seems like it would be better to have my armor better against one damage type, and swap armors depending on what I'll be facing.

Which should I do and why?

Also, is there any reason for a swordsman to get any armor sets other than the snarby, vog cub and skolver?
As far as I can tell, pretty much everything else is either for bombers / gunners, or just inferior.

Blades have it good

Sword users don't need to stray from Wolver gear for defense, only for status defenses
Damage resist UVs that aren't MAXIMUM!, probably won't mean much on gear

If you are concerned about

If you are concerned about defense types, get both and make a hybrid.
Do consider: the monsters you mentioned are grouped by DAMAGE type: Slimes/ beasts inflict pierce, gremlin/ construct inflict elemental. So if you want defense against 'em all... like i said, hybridize.

Generally on armor UV's people get Status resistance, not more Defense; when in tier 3, even with max defense against a damage type, you will still get a lot of damage when hit. Status resistance is more helpful as having enough resistance can actually prevent you from getting certain statuses/ reduce the time A LOT. Also very helpful in Lockdown.

Another thing to keep in mind- medium UV's can be preetty expensive, which can be 100k+ if it's a good one. Low UV's are the cheap ones (~10k) but are pretty minimal, so... spend your money wisely ;)

Monster specific armors are good for hybridizing (if you use a mix of weapons). Anywhoo, like you said the wolver lines are best for swording. Yes, as a swordsman, you have less reason to use them in comparison to wolver lines.

You have a good point about

You have a good point about status resistance. I might go for shock UV instead now.

I'm not really interested in freeze UV. Reducing time frozen from like 8 seconds to 3 doesn't seem useful, because 90% of the time, you get hit and unfrozen after 1 or 2 seconds anyway.
Poison is usually not a big issue either. Run away until it goes away.
Stun is pretty uncommon.
Therefore I think Shock and Fire resistance are the two most important. Most people seem to agree on this.
Of the two, I shock is probably worst.

So, I think I'll first make a vog cub set with shock med or high, and then make a skolver set with shock or fire resistance. It seems less important for skolver. Jellies are usually pretty easy, and beasts are a joke.

Re: your original question

I'd stick with appropriate defences. If you ever need a mix, mix different pieces, not different UVs on the same gear.

When in doubt, Normal damage UV. A varied amount of enemies still deal it.

For status UV's fire and

For status UV's fire and shock are definitely the worst, but it depends where you are going. Shock is the best UV in terms of Lockdown if you consider it, and a fire UV on skolver/ snarby would be helpful in FSC. Keep in mind you need a Max! status UV to get the same resistance as a piece of armor.
