Although I feel there have been many good suggestions on how to balance LD, I am going to give another one. I propose we reduce striker speed to 2/3 of its current speed while keeping the the boost meter at the same depletion rate. As it is right now, if you are playing anything other than striker, you will get mauled if you don't get the first hit in and many times even if you do. When a striker can hit me in the front and be behind me and hit again before I'm even out of my hit/stun lock it is a good indicator that they are too fast.

I feel this could be a viable way to balance LD without messing with peoples hard earned UVs/trinkets. I also feel it would require a little more planning on the strikers part before going kamakazi on the other team. This would also make weapon types other than swords more viable in LD.

The papaya disagrees

If you reduce the striker speed to 2/3 of its current speed, it basically loses the full purpose. "Right now if you are playing anything other than striker, you will get mauled if you don't get the first hit in and many times even if you do" Use strategy and imagination to outsmart the striker. If I'm not mistaken, strikes usually use their ability to circle around you and strike, preventing you from attacking.

As a recon, you'll probably never be seen by the enemy unless you attack (or your cloak runs out/breaks), gunners can use this as an advantage to sneak up to the striker, wait for them to get into a place with little friends. Then keep them at bay with a gun (Polaris works the best) eventually killing them or forcing them to retreat. As a bomber you can place the bombs to keep them from getting near you, if they have a gun wait until they're occupied with something else.

As a guardian you really shouldn't be venturing off into the unknown without a few friends by your side anyways. In the event that you do encounter a striker, use your shield to either 1.Retreat slowly into familiar territory or 2.Keep on shielding, then attack when the striker is recovering
When you are playing either one of the classes..............no, thats not a good way to explain...........Have you ever tried swatting a fly? Notice how its dead hard to hit them (even with fly swatters), this is because they see everything in slow motion with their special "eyes". To hit them you have to hit where they are GOING, not where they are. This also applies for a striker, you have to hit where they're GOING, not where they are. Also, don't swing your weapon twice (especially with slow sword), that way you'll only give the striker more time to kill you

So basically, no, don't nerf the striker (even though I hate them myself)

The problem with these flies

The problem with these flies is that they arent flies, they dont get any health reduction for having the massive speed boost .

pretty much every other game counters speed with disadvantages to defences or health.

You can keep strikers as they are.. but yeah you need to improve the other classes to be ABLE to counter the rush ability.

What you speak of really only works when against one, when there are more count on dying. Even as a recon gunner the distance cannot be enough because the majority of sword that strikers use have a huge first swing and they typically start spamming it or a gun to break your shield. Nearly every "lets balance LD thread" is an issue with needing to balance strikers, so yes they do need to be nerfed but in a fair way that doesn't remove the work that they have put into UV's/trinkets. One more thing, PLEASE, please don't encourage people to use polaris in LD. When people see one person using it then the fight turns into a polaris war and the game instantly loses what little fun and balance there is to it.

Oh no! Strikers are very difficult to overcome when they outnumber you! Something must be done!

Seriously though, I agree that strikers need a nerf, but I believe an indirect one is in order. I've been stating this in a few other topics, but it bears repeating: If you required max+max+low resistance to be immune to haze bombs, skolver strikers would at the very least be forced to swap out one of their heart trinkets for a shock trinket. A lot of them would probably need to add a freeze trinket to the pile.

I wasn't complaining about being taken down when outnumbered but was rather letting the person who indicated that I'm unaware of how to play that his tactics, which I know and use, only work situationally. My beef is more with the fact that strikers were made to be glass cannons that hit hard and fast and yet most are not glass cannons which isn't too bad in itself but then add on the speed that allows them to hit, circle and hit again before you are even out of the hit stun lock and you get an OP class. I can't count how many times I have seen a striker come in and wipe out 2-5 players and still have enough health and speed to either race to the next point or back to base to heal. Ideally it would be best to regulate their health so that they are the glass cannons they were designed to be but if you thought the forums were bad after the RSS butchering then you wouldn't want to see it if they messed with the strikers health. This is why I suggested a modification to their speed, one that still gives them more speed than any other LD class, but evens the playing field slightly without destroying an individuals progress of trinkets/UVs.
